Tiger Woods
Looking for his fifth green jacket, Tiger Woods enters the 2013 Masters with huge expectations.
He has won his last two Tour events, and he is in great form. Tiger is dialed in in all the right places for success at the Masters. He is driving the ball as long as ever, he is controlling his irons, his wedge play is phenomenal and his putting is otherworldly—he leads the Tour in strokes gained-putting.
Tiger appears more relaxed and at ease on the course than I remember ever seeing, and certainly the most since his hiatus.
This very well could be the tournament where Tiger resumes his pursuit of history as he claims his first major in nearly five years.
Rory McIlroy
A second-place finish at the Texas Open last week has helped boost the confidence of Rory McIlroy, and he needed it.
McIlroy has spent much of 2013 struggling to find his game. However, he started to get his control back last week, and his scores reflected that.
Now, he has to try to maintain some consistency on a course where consistency has never been his friend.
McIlroy started off strong last year before slumping to a 77 and 76 in the final two rounds. And, of course, the year before was when he suffered his epic back-nine collapse in the final round.
Phil Mickelson
Consistency has always been a problem for Phil Mickelson, but not as much at Augusta. He came in third here last year, and he's won this event three times, with the last coming in 2010.
Mickelson has looked solid this year, and his work on the greens, which is always key for Phil, does not appear to be too big of a question mark.
While accuracy off the tee is not a huge concern at Augusta, Phil's propensity to get wild with the driver can still doom him. To help with this, as Farrell Evans of ESPN points out, Phil will debut a new club that is a driver/3-wood combo, which is designed to help his accuracy.
Lefty looks ready to contend for his fourth green jacket.
