Alabama Beats Notre Dame to Win 2013 BCS National Championship Game

The BCS National Championship felt more like a November cupcake game for Alabama. 

In what was supposed to be the biggest college football game of the year, the Crimson Tide absolutely demolished the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and rolled to a 42-14 win on Monday night. 

The very first drive of the night told a story of what was to come (via the Tuscaloosa News' Cecil Hurt):

On that drive, AJ McCarron threw for 29 yards and Eddie Lacy ran for 31, including one of the easiest-looking impressive touchdown runs you'll ever see:

Overall, the Crimson Tide finished with four touchdown drives of over 75 yards and another one for 71, as they reeled off 529 total yards of offense. 

It's hard to find something they didn't do well.

Lacy looked like he was playing against middle-schoolers, as he racked up 140 yards on just 20 carries thanks to a dominant performance from his offensive line, countless broken tackles and stiff-arms like this:

He was named the game's offensive MVP. 

His backfield mate, T.J. Yeldon, was just as impossible to take down. He tallied 108 yards on 21 carries and added a touchdown of his own as the Crimson Tide faithful drooled about the prospect of having him in Tuscaloosa for at least two more years. 

McCarron looked comfortable in the pocket and had open wide receivers to throw to all night. He completed 20 of 28 throws for 264 yards, four touchdowns and zero interceptions.

Talented true freshman Amari Cooper added 105 yards and two scores.

On the other side of the ball, it was just the opposite. 

The Irish actually managed to move the ball fairly well after the first quarter and eventually found the end zone a few times in the second half with the game out of reach.

The Irish racked up 303 total yards (thanks mostly to Everett Golson and wideout DaVaris Daniels), but the Crimson Tide employed a bend-but-don't-break defense, forcing the Irish into a turnover and a poor third-down conversion rate while thoroughly controlling the time of possession battle.

Add it all together, and it was a lopsided battle that was essentially over within the first 10 minutes. 

So, uh, is it time for the BCS playoffs yet?
