Bradley Beal Re-Signs with Clippers, Latest Rumors on New Contract amid Heat Buzz

Bradley Beal is running things back with the Los Angeles Clippers.

Beal and the Clippers agreed to a new two-year, $13.2 million deal on Thursday, per ESPN's Shams Charania. The deal includes a player option in the second season.

Beal joined the team last offseason but played in just six games due to a fractured left hip that required surgery. Injuries and durability remain a major concern at this point, as he hasn't played more than 60 games in a season since the 2018-19 one.

At 33 years old with 14 NBA seasons under his belt, it is fair to assume he won't become more durable at this point of his career either.

Still, Beal has quite the resume, which surely played a factor in Los Angeles' decision to bring him back for another chance.

The Florida product is a three-time All-Star and was an All-NBA Third Team selection in 2020-21 when he was with the Washington Wizards. He averaged 31.3 points per game that season, which was his second straight at more than 30 points a night.

In all, Beal has seven seasons with more than 22 points per game, although he failed to average 20 in either of his two seasons with the Phoenix Suns prior to joining the Clippers.

The version of Beal who was a dominant offensive playmaker with the Wizards may be in the rearview mirror, but he is still a capable outside shooter who can provide veteran leadership and an offensive spark if he returns to form.

Health and durability remain realistic concerns, but there is some upside for Los Angeles with this move.

The Miami Heat were also eyeing Beal, per Marc Stein, and will need to look elsewhere to fill out their roster.
