DeMar DeRozan, Jonathan Kuminga Landing Spots After Russell Westbrook Retirement, Beal Contract

DeMar DeRozan and Jonathan Kuminga are two of the top remaining free agents after a recent flurry of offseason activity.

Russell Westbrook announced his retirement on Wednesday, while Bradley Beal reportedly agreed to a new two-year contract with the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday.

DeRozan is still a free agent after the Sacramento Kings waived him on July 6, but he could find a new home with several different teams.

The Miami Heat, Denver Nuggets, Cleveland Cavaliers and Washington Wizards have all shown interest in DeRozan on the free-agent market, according to ESPN's Shams Charania (h/t ESPN's Anthony Slater).

Miami has already added Giannis Antetokounmpo alongside Bam Adebayo this offseason, but could target DeRozan as a complementary scoring option. The Nuggets might also envision the veteran operating in a similar role while Nikola Jokić and Jamal Murray lead the way offensively.

Cleveland is searching for more help at forward after losing Dean Wade and failing to land LeBron James in free agency.

The Wizards finished with a mere 17-65 record last season, but are looking to climb up the Eastern Conference standings led by Trae Young, Anthony Davis and AJ Dybantsa. DeRozan could be brought in as a veteran presence on a young Washington squad.

As for Kuminga, the Los Angeles Lakers have remained interested in him after targeting him earlier in the offseason (via Slater).

The Minnesota Timberwolves have also been linked to the 23-year-old as they attempt to clinch a sixth consecutive playoff appearance next season.

Minnesota may look to add Kuminga in order to bring more offensive firepower to its frontcourt rotation after the departures of Julius Randle and Naz Reid this summer.
