Drew Allar Impresses in NFL Debut, Final Box Score Stats & Highlights from Steelers vs. Packers

Andrew PetersAug 13, 2026

Welcome to the NFL, Drew Allar.

The former Penn State standout made his debut in a preseason game against the Green Bay Packers, and he didn't disappoint as the Pittsburgh Steelers won 28-9.

The third-round pick threw for 153 yards on 10-of-13 passing, picking up two touchdowns through the air and another on the ground. Allar came in midway through the third quarter after Mason Rudolph got the start and Will Howard played a handful of drives.

Allar's first pass went for 75 yards, and he scored on the ground a few plays later.

His second score of the night came on a roll-out pass to Kaden Wetjen, and he then found Riley Nowakowski for his third touchdown.

It was a strong showing for Allar, and a positive sign that he's back in the swing of things after not playing a game since last October, when he suffered a season-ending broken ankle.

The question now is when he'll see reps in an actual NFL game.

The Steelers already have a starting quarterback in Aaron Rodgers, but the all-time great is hanging it up after this season. That means Allar will have a year to enter himself into next offseason's quarterback competition.

If his first preseason game is any indication of what's to come, Allar could have a decent shot at eventually being Pittsburgh's starter.
