Ranking San Antonio Spurs' Manu Ginobili's 5 Best Seasons

Mike B.Apr 11, 2012

Manu Ginobili somehow managed to slip all the way to the 57th overall pick in the 1999 NBA draft as he was taken by the San Antonio Spurs.

Obviously, other teams didn't know that the guard from Argentina was going to end up becoming a star in the big leagues.

Ginobili remained overseas before finally joining the Spurs in 2002. He would go on to emerge as an extremely valuable contributor to the team's three NBA titles of the 2000s.

Currently in his 10th season with San Antonio, Ginobili is still going on strong and is one of the NBA's most exciting players.

This slideshow will rank the five greatest seasons of Ginobili's career down in South Central Texas.

5. 2002-03

1 of 5

This was the season the Manu Ginobili era began in San Antonio.

Ginobili averaged just 7.6 points per game, but was named the league's Western Conference Rookie of the Year in March and was a member of the NBA All-Rookie Second Team.

More importantly, though, he helped David Robinson, Tim Duncan and the Spurs win a title as the team defeated New Jersey in the NBA Finals.

4. 2009-10

During the 2009-10 campaign, Ginobili averaged 16.5 points, 4.9 assists and 3.8 rebounds per game.

He scored a season-high 43 against Orlando and had a couple 38-point performances.

In a December contest versus Minnesota, Ginobili flirted with a triple-double, recording 14 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds.

3. 2010-11

Ginobili put together a very productive 2010-11 season, averaging 17.4 points and 4.9 assists per game.

He was named an All-Star for the second time in his career, was selected to the All-NBA Third Team, and his 154 three-pointers were seventh-best in the league.

Ginobili helped the Spurs finish with the top record in the Western Conference, although the team was upset by Memphis in the first round of the playoffs.

2. 2004-05

In the summer of 2004, Ginobili, then a restricted free agent, was offered a six-year contract by the Denver Nuggets.

However, he ended up re-signing with the Spurs and went on to have a fantastic 2004-05 season.

Ginobili dropped a career-high 48 points versus Phoenix in January and then put up 40 versus the Los Angeles Clippers in April.

Producing 16 PPG for the season, he was named a reserve for the Western Conference All-Star team.

In addition, he won his second title with the Spurs, as the team knocked off Detroit in the NBA Finals.

1. 2007-08

5 of 5

2007-08 has to be the best season of Ginobili's stellar career.

The 6'6" shooting guard reached career-highs in both scoring (19.5 PPG) and rebounding (4.8 RPG).

He scored at least 30 points in 11 regular-season games, including 46 versus Cleveland and 40 versus Minnesota.

In December, he turned in back-to-back 37-point games against Dallas and Utah respectively.

Ginobili was named the league's Sixth Man of the Year and earned a spot on the All-NBA Third Team.
