Jeremy Lin: Why Knicks Star Is Destined to Crash Back to Reality vs T-Wolves

Scott SemmlerJun 7, 2018

Jeremy Lin's dream week will be coming to an end tonight whether we chooses to accept it or not.

Seeing Lin play for the Golden State Warriors last season, we were sure to see sparks from the Bay Area-native, but it was never meant to hit the heights of New York City and become a national frenzy.

#Linning?

No one ever saw this coming.

For the Warriors, Lin was the hometown kid who everyone wanted to succeed, but it never panned out.

Golden State had plenty of reason to release him.  They needed space for a possible DeAndre Jordan acquisition and Lin never looked like he actually belonged on an NBA court anyway.

Friday night at Madison Square Garden was pure unbelievable magic.  From his brother's couch to the toast of New York City.  That was fast.

But it comes to an end tonight against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

There is no argument in the world to make the T-Wolves seem better defensively than the Los Angeles Lakers.  Lin torched Kobe Bryant and Co., one of the NBA's best defensive teams, for 38 points last night.

However, now Lin goes on the road.  On the road, he has the bullseye on his back and the expectation that he must do something great to outdo himself from the night before.

Also, the Knicks are playing back-to-back games, and judging by how much of an effort the team put up against the Lakers last night, it is improbable that we see anything close to what the nation got from Lin yet again.

Minnesota is a good team with hopes of the playoffs this season.  Their physical front court should not let Lin into the paint often, and there will not be any second-chance buckets like the Lakers gave up to Jared Jeffries and the Knicks last night.  Kevin Love is one of the premiere rebounders in the NBA.

Lin will be limited and understand what it is like to have the world's eyes on him and be expected to perform on the big stage.  Things change on the road, and Lin will come to notice that tonight when he scores less than 20 points.
