Chicago Bulls vs. Charlotte Bobcats: Bulls Obliterate Another Team
The second half of the Chicago Bulls' road trip might as well be called a roadkill trip.
Since spending the night at home before playing in Milwaukee, the Bulls have won their four road games by a combined total of of over 100 points, as they added another blowout tonight, beating the Charlotte Bobcats 95-64.
It could have been worse for the Bobcats, though. Rip Hamilton and Derrick Rose could have played. Michael Jordan didn't even stick around for the second half.
For the fourth-straight game, the Bulls came out and crushed the other team's spirit from the outset. They have outscored their opposition by a total of 118-60 in the first quarter of their last four games.
Indeed, getting off to early leads and not letting teams back into games has been the Bulls' calling card of late.
The Bulls also extended their NBA-record streak by winning their fourth-consecutive game by at least 20 points on the road without a home game in between.
They are also now the first team ever to win four straight road games, period, by at least 20 points. Their four wins have been by a total of 98 points.
They have the best record in the NBA on the road. They have played the most games on the road. They also have the best winning percentage on the road.
Two of the teams they beat this week, the New Jersey Nets and Charlotte, were teams that beat them on the same road trip last year.
I think it's safe to say Chicago doesn't struggle on the road this year.
The Bulls defense has been on another planet the last two games. Chicago has held its last two opponents under 70 points. Since the advent of the shot clock, the only other road team in NBA history to hold back-to-back opponents to 70 points or less was the 2004 Detroit Pistons, who won the NBA championship.
The player of the game was Joakim Noah, who scored 17 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in 31 minutes. Carlos Boozer added 16 points, Luol Deng 12 and John Lucas III 11.
Only one Bobcat, Derrick Brown, hit double digits. Brown had just 10 points.
The Bobcats as a team shot just 32.9 percent from the field. They had 16 turnovers and the points-off-turnover differential was 20 points in favor of the Bulls.
The next game might not be quite so easy, though, as the Bulls travel to Boston, where they will face a resurgent Celtics team. That will be one of three legitimate challenges between now and the All-Star game.
The second will be another game against the Celtics on February 12th, and the third will be against the Atlanta Hawks on February 20th.
Both of those games will be at the United Center, though, as Boston will be playing its last road game until after the break. There is a good chance the Bulls could enter the break on an 11-game winning streak.
