Lakers vs. 76ers: NBA Suspends LA Coach Mike Brown for Tonight's Clash
Mike Brown has been fined $25,000 and was suspended by the NBA for Monday's Los Angeles Lakers game against the Philadelphia 76ers.
For a Los Angeles team that comes into an extremely tough game with a 3-8 road record, this comes as a tough blow.
The Lakers are coming off of a very tough 96-87 loss to the Utah Jazz on Saturday night, and the contest against the Sixers is just the first of an incredibly tough three-game set this week.
Los Angeles will take on the Sixers, and after a brief two-day rest, the Lakers will play both the Celtics and Knicks on consecutive nights.
Brown was ejected in the loss to Utah and the suspension came as a result of making contact with an official and "failure to leave (the) court in a timely manner."
This is not something we would have seen from from a Lakers team led by Phil Jackson, but this is a different team with a new identity.
The Lakers have really struggled on the offensive end of the court; the team is just a middle of the pack group in terms of offensive efficiency at this time.
Los Angeles has also been absolutely woeful from beyond the arc this season, and an inability to stretch the floor is really limiting what the Lakers can do right now.
Philadelphia comes into Monday's game with a 12-3 home record, trailing just the San Antonio Spurs as the team with the most wins in its own building.
The Lakers are not a deep team whatsoever, and given that depth is one of the most impressive elements about the Sixers, it will be very interesting to see these two teams go head-to-head on Monday.
But Mike Brown will have to watch all the action from his television.
