What's At Stake?
The Heat have been rolling without Wade and have won five of the last six. They finally snapped their road losing streak against the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday night and now return home.
They’ll be taking on a struggling Knicks team that has only managed to win one game out of the past eight.
If New York wants to turn their season around, picking up an upset victory on Friday night will be key.
What They're Saying
Chris Tomasson of Fox Sports Florida dug up some proof that Eddy Curry has marked this game on his calendar long ago and is hoping getting revenge against his former team:
""I'm looking forward to that game," Curry told the Palm Beach Post during media day on Dec. 12. "That's all I think about is that game. And, to be honest with you, every day I get up two hours before practice and I'm like, 'I am going to be ready. I can't wait."'
"
Will Leitch at New York Magazine wrote an expose on how the New York Knicks are still flawed after being thrashed by the Cavaliers on Wednesday:
"Yep, the Knicks lost to the Cavaliers last night, and what's scary is that it wasn't really as close as the ten-point margin. After the encouraging win at Charlotte on Tuesday night, there was some hope that the Knicks were close to turning this thing around. But all the ugliness — the malfunctioning offensive sets, the defensive indifference, the overarching sloth of it all — came back last night. In all honesty: These games are becoming awfully difficult to sit through.
"
Knicks Player to Watch: Carmelo Anthony
Melo has been dealing with a number of sprains and bruises throughout the season, but it’s no excuse for his ridiculously low shooting percentage (31.3 percent from the field and 20 percent from deep over the past five games) and constant stopping of the ball.
It’s simply killing the Knicks’ chances at victory and he needs to make an adjustment.
Heat Player to Watch: LeBron James
LeBron has really stepped up in Wade’s absence and is averaging 27.4 points, 8.2 rebounds and six assists over the last five games.
See if he can continue that dominant run against a flailing New York franchise on Friday night.
Key Matchup: Post play
The Knicks have two formidable players in the post in Tyson Chandler and Amar’e Stoudemire.
The Heat aren’t as fortunate. Besides Chris Bosh and possibly Udonis Haslem, they have barely any talent with size.
Whoever dominates the glass and plays tougher defense inside has a great chance to win.
