New York Knicks: Knicks Must Find a Way to Fix Issues
The New York Knicks are in the midst of a six-game losing streak, and things are getting rather tense in the Big Apple. Head coach Mike D’Antoni does not have an answer for the team’s recent struggles, and there have been questions about whether he will be let go sooner rather than later.
According to an article written by Chris Bernucca of SheridanHoops.com, D’Antoni should be worried about his job status if the Knicks continue to lose games. The Knicks this season have lost to the Toronto Raptors and the Milwaukee Bucks (two struggling teams) by not playing well.
Carmelo Anthony has been averaging 25.7 points per game, though his shooting percentage is at 40 percent so far this season. Forward/center Amar’e Stoudemire has been inconsistent this season with his scoring and is averaging 17.6 points per game so far. The addition of center Tyson Chandler (not an offensive threat) has somehow impacted Amar’e’s game in the sense that he is not able to dominate the painted area as he used to do in the past.
The Knicks have been dealing with inconsistent play from their point guard rotation, as rookie Iman Shumpert, veteran Mike Bibby and Toney Douglas have split the minutes at that position. Baron Davis is still recovering from his back injury, and he may be able to help out—though, at this time, it is not known to what capacity.
In order for the Knicks to be successful, both Anthony and Stoudemire need to play more together and complement each other. Other players also need to fulfill their roles and not look to do too much.
Could the Knicks be struggling due to the way the season is formatted? It will be interesting to see what happens as the season rolls along.
