Chicago Bulls Star Derrick Rose out vs. Memphis Grizzlies

Tim KeeneyJun 7, 2018

The shortened NBA preseason has taken yet another injury victim.

Chicago Bulls point guard and NBA MVP Derrick Rose, according to K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune, is out for today's matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies

Rose, who has had problems with his toe in the past week, was seen wearing a protective boot earlier today, and now he's officially out.

The NBA lockout continues to haunt us all.

It didn't only shorten the preseason and training camps, but it has condensed the NBA schedule into something that almost mimics a baseball schedule.

The effects from this type of schedule have been everything we thought they would be. And more.

We've already seen stars such as Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Steph Curry, Zach Randolph, Brook Lopez and Al Horford fall victim to injury, and we aren't even a month into the season.

Not even the MVP could hide.

Rose suffered the toe injury about a week ago, but has played in all but one game since then, including Chicago's last two. However, he seems to have suffered a setback sometime between Saturday's game and today.

During the game that Rose missed, the Bulls were fortunate enough to go head-to-head with the league's worst team, the Washington Wizards. Chicago was able to rely on 28 shot attempts (25 points) from John Lucas for an ugly 78-64 win.

This time around, however, it might not be so easy against the 5-6 Memphis Grizzlies.

Still, Johnson believes that guard C.J Watson will be back for this game, so that will serve as an extra boost for Chicago without its star.

No matter what happens, know this: Rose isn't the last star who will be injured this season.

This schedule is kind enough for that to happen.
