Georges Niang, Warriors Agree to Contract in NBA Free Agency, Updated Salary Cap and Depth Chart

The Golden State Warriors reportedly filled out their roster Tuesday.

ESPN's Shams Charania reported they agreed to a one-year, $3.9 million deal with Georges Niang. Charania also noted they filled their last two open regular-season roster spots with the additions of Niang and Brandon Williams who "were targeted over the last month for the Warriors and now land on one-year minimum deals."

According to Spotrac, Golden State has $249.4 million in total cap allocations.

Here is a look at the team's potential depth chart:

PG: Stephen Curry, De'Anthony Melton, Gary Payton II

SG: Brandin Podziemski, Brandon Williams, Will Richard

SF: Jimmy Butler (when healthy), Gui Santos, Yaxel Lendeborg

PF: Draymond Green, Georges Niang

C: Kristaps Porziņģis, Al Horford, Charles Bassey

Niang surely won't be a go-to option on a roster that includes Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler, Kristaps Porziņģis and Draymond Green, but he does provide a veteran presence off the bench who can take advantage of openings.

He entered the league as a second-round pick in the 2016 NBA draft and has played for the Indiana Pacers, Utah Jazz, Philadelphia 76ers, Cleveland Cavaliers and Atlanta Hawks.

However, the Iowa State product also missed the entire 2025-26 campaign because of a foot injury.

At his best, he is someone who can provide matchup problems for opposing frontcourts because of his outside shooting. Niang is a career 39.9 percent shooter from beyond the arc and connected on 40.6 percent of his triples during the 2024-25 season for the Cavaliers and Hawks on his way to 9.9 points per game.

Given the defensive attention that Curry in particular draws, that should lead to a number of clean looks on the outside for Niang.

His ability to knock them down will ultimately determine how much he plays for a team looking to make a playoff run in the Western Conference.
