NFL Playoff Predictions: Why Baltimore Has No Chance of Beating New England

Alex KayJan 16, 2012

The New England Patriots have begun their triumphant march back to the Super Bowl with a emphatic rout of the Denver Broncos.

Now they host the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship Game, which promises to be a fierce competition between two squads with a history of bad blood.

However, the Patriots are the better team and will not lose.

Here is why.

Tom Brady

Brady had one of the finest years of his career, but it went under-the-radar because Drew Brees beat him to Dan Marino’s single-season passing record, Aaron Rodgers led his team to a 15-1 record and Tim Tebow was constantly working fourth-quarter miracles.

All of those QBs are going to be watching the championship games from their couch.

Brady proved he’s still the best by throwing for an incredible 363 yards and six touchdowns against Tebow’s Broncos.

That's a defense that only gave up one passing touchdown to Ben Roethlisberger and Steelers and recorded five sacks in the Wild Card Round, while getting zero against Brady.

Is there any coach that gets better as the season goes on and more tape is accrued on the opposition than Bill?

He finally got the monkey off of his shoulder by leading the Pats to their first postseason victory since the 2008 AFC Championship and called an incredible game on Saturday.

You know that he’s been studying the film of Baltimore’s game against the Houston Texans and is salivating over some of the mistakes the Ravens keep making.

Baltimore Inability to Dominate

If the Patriots are able to create four turnovers and put the ball back in Brady and the offense’s hands, they are beating that Texans team by at least three scores.

Baltimore was only able to escape with a seven-point win that wasn’t safe until the final seconds.

Joe Flacco was just 14-of-27 throwing the ball and Ray Rice was only able to average 2.9 yards on the ground.

Houston’s defense was statistically much better than the Patriots’ was during the season, but New England was dialed in on Saturday and looks to have tightened up for the postseason.

With all of these factors considered, New England is easily the superior team and there is a reason why the Patriots are favored by 7.5 points next Sunday.

If Baltimore cannot put points on the board, they have no chance of overcoming this explosive New England team that is hellbent on getting back to the big game.
