Giants Reportedly Trade OL to Chiefs Ahead of 2026 NFL Season, Full Return Revealed

The Kansas City Chiefs reportedly are bolstering their offensive line before the start of the 2026 NFL season.

Per NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the team traded a 2028 seventh-round pick to the New York Giants in return for guard Joshua Ezeudu.

Ezeudu was a third-round pick in 2022 out of North Carolina and spent each season of his NFL career with the Giants. He appeared in 33 games with New York, starting seven at left tackle, two at left guard and one as an extra lineman.

Unfortunately, injuries have plagued the early part of Ezeudu's career, as he missed a good portion of the 2023 season before missing all of the 2025 campaign with a calf injury.

Ezeudu has also been dealing with an injury in training camp, but head coach John Harbaugh described it as not "a long-term injury." Harbaugh had also recently switched Ezeudu to right guard after spending most of his time at tackle over the last few seasons.

"The position flex is the idea. You may have noticed he went back out to tackle in the fourth quarter, so the ability for him to play both guard and tackle, particularly on the right side, would be helpful for us, and that's our thought," Harbaugh told reporters this week. "He's kind of getting to the point now where we feel like he could swing, right tackle, right guard."

How the Chiefs plan to use Ezeudu remains to be seen, but they clearly felt their offensive line needed more depth as it looks to protect Patrick Mahomes following last year's season-ending injury.
