Latest on Masters 2024 Tee Times and Schedule amid Weather Delay
The first round of the 2024 Masters has been delayed due to inclement weather in Augusta, Georgia.
It was announced by the Masters that the first round will begin at 10:30 a.m. ET, with the honorary starters ceremony featuring Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player and Tom Watson beginning at 10:10 a.m. ET.
ESPN's Mark Schlabach noted the weather forecast is calling for a cold front, "heavy rain and thunderstorms, with wind gusts of 40 to 45 mph" that is expected to end around 11 a.m. ET.
The opening round was scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. ET, with Erik van Rooyen and Jake Knapp as the first group.
Now that tee times are being pushed back by 2.5 hours, it could be a challenge to finish the entire first round on Thursday. The final group will tee off at 4:30 p.m. ET, assuming the weather holds up.
Per Weather.com, there's no rain in the forecast after 10 a.m. ET with mostly sunny skies coming in the late afternoon at 4 p.m. ET.
Sunset in Augusta is expected around 7:56 p.m. local time this evening. The final group might be able to make it through 18 holes within that span if things go well for them.
Friday tee times could be adjusted if necessary to allow for any groups that don't finish their first round. Lee Hodges, Adrian Meronk and Grayson Murray are the first group scheduled to tee off tomorrow at 8 a.m. ET.
The forecast for the rest of the weekend looks great. It's expected to be sunny from Friday through Sunday, with high temperatures ranging from 72 to 84 degrees.
Defending champion Jon Rahm will tee off at 1:36 p.m. ET. He will look to become the first player to win back-to-back Masters titles since Tiger Woods in 2001 and 2002.
