Bears Beat Panthers, Box Score Stats, Highlights for Caleb Williams, Bryce Young, Odunze, Top Player

Caleb Williams led the Chicago Bears to a 59-37 victory over Bryce Young and the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, opening their season with a winning record.

Despite being the home team, the Panthers were a 2.5-point underdog heading into the matchup, per FanDuel Sportsbook.

There was no defense in sight as a combined 96 points and 1,030 yards were put up in the season opener at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.

Buckle up.

Despite kicking off the game with a fumble for a loss, Chicago made up for it by finding the end zone twice in the first quarter. Williams ran it in for a 9-yard touchdown, and D'Andre Swift capped off a 67-yard drive with a short run up the middle to score.

Off the Bears' opening fumble, Young and the Panthers charged 42 yards downfield, capping off the drive with a 4-yard connection to Chuba Hubbard. Despite the defensive stop and early strike, Chicago led 14-7 after one quarter.

Williams connected with Cole Kmet for a 22-yard touchdown to open the second quarter. After going three-and-out on its next possession, a muffed punt was recovered by Chicago and turned into three points with a successful field goal.

Williams showed how good he is on his feet, scrambling for 29 yards to score once more.

Carolina scored on three of its five possessions, adding a deep 51-yard touchdown pass to Jalen Coker and a 7-yard touchdown run by Young before closing out with a field goal.

The Bears led 31-24 at the half.

With 15 minutes left to play, the Bears led 45-31 in an insanely high-scoring Week 1 game.

Panthers' Hubbard added another score on a short, 2-yard run to tie it at 31-apiece before Chicago's Swift ran one up the middle for another score in the third, while Kyle Monangai broke loose for a 61-yard touchdown run.

Chicago began to pull away in the fourth, adding two touchdowns — a short pass to Jahdae Walker and another Swift run, his third of the day.

The Panthers opened the quarter with a fumble but found a touchdown on their next drive with another Young-Coker connection. Time ran out, and Chicago's late pullaway was too much to overcome.

Chicago will look to keep its hot offensive prowess going against the Minnesota Vikings next Sunday, while Carolina will hit the road to face the Atlanta Falcons. Both games are scheduled to kick off at 1 p.m. ET.
