Bears' Top Hypothetical Trades to Make Splash in 2024 NFL Draft

Joe TanseyApr 1, 2024

The Chicago Bears' trade market in the 2024 NFL draft revolves around the No. 9 selection.

Chicago is not trading the top pick now that Justin Fields has been traded. Caleb Williams will most likely be the top selection.

Chicago should field a handful of trade offers at No. 9 because of the needs of the teams beneath it in the draft order.

But the Bears could explore moving up in the draft order themselves by way of the No. 9 selection.

Chicago will be in competition with a handful of teams to land a premier wide receiver. The Bears may still be in that market despite adding Keenan Allen and D.J. Moore in the trade market over the last two years.

General manager Ryan Poles has a tendency to be aggressive in the trade market and we could see that on display yet again during draft day.

The biggest splash the Bears could make is to move back into the top seven to land a wide receiver.

The Bears' most likely trade partner in that scenario is the Tennessee Titans.

The Los Angeles Chargers need a wide receiver after dealing Allen to the Bears and the New York Giants are desperate for a No. 1 target to work with Daniel Jones.

Chicago only has the No. 9 pick, a third-round pick and a fourth-rounder at its disposal to make a deal and that may not be good enough for the Chargers or Giants to budge.

The Titans could scoff at any potential offer from the Bears as well, but they are worth calling because they landed their No. 1 wide receiver in free agency in Calvin Ridley.

A trade down may make more sense for the Bears' draft capital, but this is the move if they want to be super aggressive in adding premier talent.

Malik Nabers or Rome Odunze should be there at No. 7 if the quarterback rush happens behind the Bears at No. 1 and one of the offensive tackles lands in the top six.

Proposed Trade: Bears send Nos. 9 and 75 picks to Tennessee for No. 7 pick

The rush to land the fourth-best quarterback in the draft could still be on at No. 9 if the Minnesota Vikings, Denver Broncos and Las Vegas Raiders fail to move up.

Chicago will not do any business with the Vikings, especially if it helps them land their replacement for Kirk Cousins.

That leaves Denver and Las Vegas as the primary options to trade with if the fourth quarterback, likely J.J. McCarthy, is still on the board at No. 9.

No trades have been made up to No. 4 as of Monday morning, so this scenario is still 100 percent in play.

Denver has a handful of Day 3 picks that could be packaged as part of a move up three spots.

They may not be the abundance second-and-third-round picks the Bears want to land, but the Broncos could at least aid the Bears in adding to their draft capital while also landing a new quarterback and blocking the Vikings in the process.

Proposed Trade: Broncos send Nos. 12, 76, 147 and 203 picks to Bears for No. 9 pick.

Bears Drop Back in Deal with Las Vegas

The Raiders are the other team who could jump up to No. 9 to land a quarterback.

Las Vegas owns a second-round pick that may fascinate the Bears front office in trade negotiations.

That is the trade chip that could push the Raiders over Broncos in the discussions to land the No. 9 pick and potentially a new quarterback.

If the draft order holds, the Bears may try to put extra effort into preventing the Vikings from potentially landing a franchise quarterback at No. 10.

Vegas can package a few Day 2 and Day 3 selections, starting with the No. 44 overall pick, to the Bears.

The Bears would love to take a wide out at No. 9, but if the offer is sweet enough, they could take advantage of another team's situation and improve another part of their roster a few picks later, or hope a top wide out drops to No. 13.

Proposed Trade: Raiders send Nos. 13, 44 and 148 picks to Bears for No. 9 pick.
