Jets GM Joe Douglas on Zach Wilson Trade Rumors: 'Nothing Close to Being Done'
It's no secret that the New York Jets are trying to trade quarterback Zach Wilson this offseason, but general manager Joe Douglas said Monday that there hasn't been much progress so far.
"There's been a lot of good discussions with his agent, and there's been some discussions with teams... but I've got no news to report, there's nothing close to being done," Douglas told reporters at the annual league meeting.

Douglas added that he's hoping to find a deal that would improve the team while also providing a good situation for Wilson.
"Yeah, I think the trick is to have it be beneficial for the team and the player," he said. "And I think that's what everybody's working towards, but ultimately we're going to have to do what's right for the team."
Meanwhile, Jets owner Woody Johnson says the team plans to keep Wilson if it can't find a trade partner.
"if we don't trade him, we're going to keep him," Johnson told reporters, per Brian Costello of the New York Post.
Wilson endured a disastrous three-year run in New York after being selected with the No. 2 pick in the 2021 draft. He was benched multiple times and the Jets intended for him to learn under four-time MVP Aaron Rodgers, but those plans were derailed when Rodgers suffered a torn Achilles four plays into the 2023 season opener.
In 34 career games with 33 starts, Wilson threw for 6,293 yards, 23 touchdowns and 25 interceptions while completing 57 percent of his passes. He has a 12-21 record as a starter and led the league with seven lost fumbles in 2023.
New York's struggles to find a trade partner for Wilson make it apparent that his reputation is damaged beyond repair. As one assistant coach told ESPN's Rich Cimini earlier this offseason about what he'd be willing to trade for the 24-year-old, "I'd give up a two-week stay at a Best Western. I'm not a fan."
Fellow 2021 draft classmates Justin Fields and Mac Jones were already traded this offseason, which should have provided the framework for the Jets to deal away Wilson. Unfortunately, there aren't many viable suitors remaining at this point.
