NBA Trade Rumors: Durant's Suns Chasing Hornets' Miles Bridges 'Harder Than Any Team'

Scott PolacekFeb 8, 2024

The Phoenix Suns are reportedly attempting to add Miles Bridges ahead of Thursday's 3 p.m. ET trade deadline.

According to NBA insider Marc Stein, Phoenix is pursuing the Charlotte Hornets forward "harder than any team in the league." He also listed the Dallas Mavericks and Utah Jazz as other interested teams but noted Bridges, who is playing on a one-year qualifying offer in 2023-24, has said multiple times he prefers to stay with the Hornets.

As Stein explained, an in-season trade would mean Bridges forfeited his Bird rights. If he stays in Charlotte, he could then be part of a sign-and-trade to a new team with a new contract that may be bigger than his current qualifying offer, which is worth less than $8 million.

While the Michigan State product has played well on the court lately with back-to-back games of more than 40 points, trading for him would likely lead to some backlash.

He did not play last season and sat out the first 10 games of the 2023-24 campaign because of a 30-game suspension for a domestic violence charge. He pleaded no contest to one felony domestic violence charge, while two other counts were dismissed.

Stein noted he is also facing a court date in February for allegedly violating a protection order that was the result of the initial domestic violence incident.

Yet the Suns are still pursuing him as they chase a title in this win-now season with Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal leading the way on the court.
