Raiders Rumors: Davante Adams, Maxx Crosby Trades Before Deadline Doubted by Execs

Tyler ConwayOct 24, 2023

The Las Vegas Raiders are reportedly not expected to explore trading wide receiver Davante Adams or defensive end Maxx Crosby ahead of the Oct. 31 trade deadline.

Jason La Canfora of the Washington Post reported rival executives "doubt" the Raiders will move on from either of their top players despite a shaky 3-4 start to the season.

Adams has been increasingly frustrated with his role in the offense. He has not gone over the 100-yard receiving mark since a 13-catch, 172-yard outing against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 3 and is averaging just 11.5 yards per catch, the second-lowest number of his career.

"I'm a human being and I have extremely high standards for myself in this offense," Adams told reporters last week. "I'm sure people are thinking, 'They won the game, why is there an issue?' I mean, you see why it's an issue. Y'all should know who I am, know what I'm about at this point ... when you're a player like me, mentally, my benchmark is not wins and losses -- it's greatness. So when I go out there, I expect to be able to have that ability to put that on tape and have an influence on the game. That's my purpose for being here. I'm not here just to hang out; I came here to win and to do it the right way."

The Raiders are 9-15 since Adams' arrival last season, a far cry from his consistent playoff appearances in Green Bay. Adams' contract is guaranteed through the 2024 season, though a trade would give the Raiders a small amount of cap breathing room.

Crosby remains a shining bright spot in an otherwise underwhelming Raiders defense, compiling 40 tackles and 6.5 sacks through seven games. He is the only Las Vegas defensive player with more than one sack this season.

That alone should be enough for the Raiders to hold onto Crosby, who inked a four-year, $94 million deal in 2022. Given the skyrocketing prices of pass rushers across the sport, Crosby is both a high-level talent and already a bargain at this point.
