Giants Beat Cowboys, Box Score Stats, Highlights for Dak, Dart, Odell, Skattebo, Lamb, Top Players

Jaxson Dart and the New York Giants limited Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys to just two second-half possessions to secure a 28-20 Week 1 home victory on Sunday night.

The Cowboys were a narrow 3-point favorite ahead of their matchup against the Giants, per Fanduel Sportsbook, but New York sports stayed hot on Sunday with the season opening Giants win.

Tempers were flaring early in the Week 1 NFC East battle, with Dallas and New York eager to get a leg up on one another after finishing last season's head-to-head matchup 1-1.

Dallas grabbed a Week 2, 40-37 overtime win, while New York walked away with a 34-17 win in the season finale. Despite this, neither team made the postseason, with Dallas finishing second in the division (7-9) and New York last (4-13).

Giants' legendary wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. made his return to MetLife Stadium on Sunday, suited up in red, white and blue for the first time since 2018.

He did not see the field, but former Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton believes he still has what it takes to be the elite receiver he once was.

"... He has that type of shock and awe, I guess a wow factor, so to speak. But I think he brings a lot of experience," Slayton said, per ESPN's Jordan Raanan. "He still has juice, too. I think he's shown that. He can still play for sure."

The 33-year-old was drafted by the Giants in 2014 with the No. 12 overall pick.

A quick three-and-out for Dallas led to New York notching the first touchdown of the game, eating up the clock with a 6:13 drive that finished with Skattebo finding the end zone on a 3-yard run.

Dallas' first score came in the second after Prescott marched the Cowboys down the field on an 85-yard drive, finishing the possession with a short connection to CeeDee Lamb.

It was tit-for-tat after that, as New York's Tyrone Tracy Jr. fumbled it away, then Prescott threw an interception on the following possession.

The Giants found the final score of the half behind a 15-yard connection between Dart and Isaiah Likely to take a 14-7 lead.

To open the third, New York ran the clock down to just under seven minutes before Dart connected with Likely once more for a score. Prescott and the Cowboys responded with a Javonte Williams rushing touchdown.

Again, the Giants milked the clock in the fourth with an 8:11 possession, resulting in a Devin Singletary receiving touchdown to put New York up 28-14.

Another quick response from Prescott to Williams for a touchdown brought Dallas within one score, but the Giants were able to convert on third downs and run down the clock to secure the win.

New York will head west to face the Los Angeles Rams next week for a Monday night showdown, with kickoff scheduled for 8:15 p.m. ET. Dallas will host the Washington Commanders next Sunday, scheduled to start at 4:25 p.m. ET.
