UFC 141 Results: One Highlight from Each Main Card Fight

Tim McTiernanJun 7, 2018

On Friday night the UFC had its New Years event which gave us yet another outstanding card from the UFC this year.

With guys like Brock Lesnar, Alistair Overeem, Donald Cerrone, Nate Diaz and more on the card, how could it not be great?

Let's take a quick look back at a highlight from each main card fight.

Nam Phan vs. Jim Hettes: When the Scores Were Read

When the scorecards were tallied and read for this fight, we all found out just how one-sided the fight truly was. With two scores of 30-25, and one of 30-26, Jim Hettes absolutely dominated Nam Phan.

It was easily one of the most one-sided fights in UFC history.

Alexander Gustafsson vs. Vladimir Matyushenko: The Knockout

More than just the knockout in this fight was the fact that it was the first finish on the entire card. Prior to this fight, there were six straight decision victories.

Gustafsson has now proven that he is truly a top 10 light heavyweight.

Jon Fitch vs. Johny Hendricks: Fitch Taking Down Mazagatti

Oh, I guess that knockout was pretty good too. But for me, the highlight of that fight was seeing Jon Fitch take Mazagatti down, because he didn't realize the fight was over.

As Joe Lauzon tweeted, "Terrible takedown defense by Mazagatti."

Donald Cerrone vs. Nate Diaz: Pre-Fight Staredown

In the cage before the fight started, they brought both fighters to the center of the Octagon and gave the usual speech.

After it was over, when the ref asked if they wanted to touch gloves, Cerrone flipped Diaz off, turned around, and walked away.

Then, he got his ass beat.

Brock Lesnar vs. Alistair Overeem: Overeem's Liver Kick and Brock's Retirement

Alistair Overeem was working the body of Brock Lesnar and it paid off in the end. As he finished Lesnar with a liver kick and some ground and pound.

Initially after the kick Lesnar looked fine. Then he collapsed to the canvas and turtled up.

From there, the fight was over.

Then after the fight Lesnar announced his retirement. I think we'll all remember that one.
