4 Norwich City Attacking Talents to Grace the English Premier League
Norwich City are now preparing for life in the Premier League and as they have showed in the last two seasons, their strength is more likely to come as an attacking force than at the back. Therefore, I have compiled a slideshow of four players that are likely to play a vital part.
It is a little difficult to make too many predictions, because the following four players have never played in the Premier League before; but they will all feel confident they can deliver on arguably the biggest stage in world football.
So don't waste anymore time and get stuck into my slideshow.
Anthony Pilkington
1 of 4Winger Anthony Pilkington is a new signing at Carrow Road having joined the club from Huddersfield Town for a fee of around £2m. Pilkington is often described as an exciting player with the class to play in the Premier League and is capable of providing assists and goals.
Last season in League One Pilkington scored 10 league goalsĀ and provided fourĀ assists. Those statistics appear to show Pilkington is more of a goal-scorer than provider, but he will find goals a lot harder to come by in the Premier League. It will be a big step up, but Pilkington is young and eager to prove he is good enough.
Elliott Bennett
2 of 4Elliott Bennett is another new signing at Carrow Road, having signed from Brighton for a fee of in the region of £1.5m. Bennett is also a winger by trade with pace and trickery to burn and like Pilkington had been playing League One football last season.
Last season, Bennett provided an impressive 17 assists Ā and scored six league goals. Norwich City tried to sign Bennett in January 2011 but their bid was knocked back by Brighton, so it must be veryĀ satisfying for Norwich manager Paul Lambert to have finally got his man. Norwich City fans will be hoping that Bennett can prove to be aĀ revelation in the Premier League.Ā Ā Ā
Wes Hoolahan
3 of 4Wes HoolahanĀ is often considered to be the focal point of Norwich City's attacks and a vital part of the team. Hoolahan is best described as a creative attacking midfielder and he usually plays in the tip of the diamond, just behind the two strikers. Hoolahan's quick feet and position he plays in makes him very difficult to defend against.
Last season in the Championship, Hoolahan contributed 10 league goalsĀ and provided nineĀ assistsĀ and the player will be hoping that he can be a handful for Premier League defences as well. Hoolahan signed a contract extension in January 2011.Ā
Grant Holt
4 of 4Grant HoltĀ is a striker that has all theĀ attributes needing to be a success in the Premier League. Holt is just one of those players that defenders hate playing against and he makes things happen. In the Championship, Holt had some very impressive statistics. They read: 21 goalsĀ and 14 assists.
Holt has now scored 53 goals in all competitions for Norwich in only two seasons and there is no reason to think that Holt won't continue to score in for Norwich in the Premier League. Holt also signed a contract extension at the end of last season.Ā
