England Football: How the Three Lions Will Line Up in the World Cup 2014
Ever since England's World Cup debacle in South Africa, Fabio Capello has showed more of a willingness to experiment with young talent.
It is clear that England's so-called "golden generation" has missed the opportunity to win a major trophy for this once-proud footballing nation.
The likes of Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard, John Terry and Rio Ferdinand have had their chance to make a difference on the international stage.
While these veterans will no doubt continue to play a part in the England camp; it is very unlikely that they will be around in Brazil in 2014.
Capello has the right idea in giving the youngsters the chance to prove themselves now so they will be established internationals when the World Cup comes around again.
Here is a projected opinion of how the next generation of English footballers could line up in 2014.
Goalkeeper: Joe Hart
1 of 11Goalkeeper has been a problem position for the England team for years.
Until, that is, Joe Hart was given the gloves after the disastrous World Cup campaign that saw Robert Green make himself Public Enemy Number One.
Ā Hart has shown a maturity beyond his 24 years and played an integral role in Manchester City's top four finish last season.
With Hart between the sticks, City's defense was the hardest to beat and conceded the fewest goals.
Joe Hart has since become the England No. 1 and his presence and command of his area make him a formidable obstacle.
His young age mean that he should be in the first team for years to come and it seems that England have finally found a stopper they can put their faith in.
Right Back: Micah Richards
2 of 11A few years ago, Micah Richards was considered the most promising defender in English football.
He has since been lost in the shuffle after the multi-million pound investment at Manchester City.
Richards is no longer a first team regular but he is still capable of powerful runs into opposition territory.
His versatility and his aerial prowess are part of his attraction and he has more pace and is more reliable than current right back, Glen Johnson.
Left Back: Kieran Gibbs
3 of 11Kieran Gibbs will have a vitally important role to play for Arsenal next season as first-choice left back Gael Clichy has been sold to Manchester City.
Gibbs is lightning-fast and has the ability to create problems going forward.
But he needs to increase his composure and improve the defensive side of his game if he is to make the national team.
There are parallels between the careers of Gibbs and Ashley Cole, who started out as an explosive wing back and turned into a reliable full back without losing his attacking edge.
Another Arsenal youth product needs to step us and be counted as the long-term replacement for one of England's greatest ever left back.
Center Back: Chris Smalling
4 of 11Manchester United have a reputation for establishing youngsters that go on to become internationals and Chris Smalling may be the latest Red Devil to win his first England cap.
Smalling has been given a run in the first team since signing from Fulham in the summer of 2010.
This vital experience and the maturity he has already shown make him an obvious choice to replace Rio Ferdinand for both club and country.
Center Back: Phil Jones
5 of 11Phil Jones' exceptional form for Blackburn have earned him a lucrative £16 million move to Manchester United.
Jones is extremely adept at bringing the ball out of defense and acting as an extra midfielder.
But he is also the personification of defensive solidity and under the guidance of Sir Alex Ferguson, he has the potential to be world-class.
Also a partnership between Smalling and Jones for club and country would bring understanding and chemistry between the two.
Right Winger: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
6 of 11Football writers have been raving about Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain ever since his impressive showing for Southampton last season.
The talented winger played a huge part in the Saints promotion and has been linked with a whole host of Premier League clubs including Arsenal and Chelsea.
A big money move should be just around the corner and Chamberlain has already shown that he can provide the final delivery that so many explosive England wingers have lacked.
At the tender age of 17, he will be given the opportunity to develop and gain experience in the England youth teams.Ā
Left Winger: Adam Johnson
7 of 11Adam Johnson has outshone fellow countryman, James Milner, at Manchester City repeatedly over the past year.
Johnson is not a regular at Eastlands but when he is deployed on the left wing, the results can be devastating.
Johnson is incredibly quick with the ball at his feet and can embarrass the best defenders in the league with relative ease.
He has already reproduced this form for England and I believe he will soon surpass Ashley Young in terms of wing play.
He should be an England regular by 2014 and many believe that Capello made a mistake in leaving him out of the squad for South Africa 2010.
Central Midfielder: Jack Wilshere
8 of 11Jack Wilshere has been labelled the future of English football and for good reason.
His leadership skills have been evident in an Arsenal side that lacks a big personality on the pitch.
Wilshere's determination and unwillingness to give up was characterized by his superhuman effort in the Nou Camp where he was the only "Gunner" to hold his own.
Wilshere's mercurial dribbling skills and his ability to play a defense-splitting pass have led to him being described as a wonderkid.
He has the potential to be world class and the impending departures of both Nasri and Fabregas will lead to an increase in the responsibility of this talented young man.
Central Midfielder: Jack Rodwell
9 of 11Rodwell is a calm figure in the Everton midfield and his passing range and accuracy make him a huge asset for David Moyes' side.
Rodwell has been looking to make the transition to the national team for some time now and his club form indicates that he should be given the nod sooner rather than later.
Rodwell does not shy away from the physical side of the game but he can also provide a creative spark in attack.
In short, he is the complete midfield player and he is just 20 years of age.
Striker: Wayne Rooney
10 of 11Wayne Rooney's reputation as the golden boy of English football has somewhat diminished since his abysmal World Cup showing.
But he seems to have regained his sharp form and a fantastic finish in the Champions League Final re-established Rooney as one of the world's great strikers.
Rooney loves to drop deep for Manchester United and play in the hole behind the strikers which gives him more of a free role.
He could be electric if given this role for the national team and a pairing with an old-fashioned center forward could produce positive results.
Striker: Andy Carroll
11 of 11Andy Carroll is the most expensive English footballer in history following his £35 million move to Liverpool.
Persistent injury problems have kept his Merseyside career from getting off the ground as of yet.
But his form for Newcastle before his big move was one of the stories of last season as he led the line like a veteran.
Carroll is worth his weight in gold in terms of goalscoring but his contribution to the team is not limited to net-busting.
His aerial dominance allows him to win the headers that create chances for his partners. His sheer physicality has the potential to create havoc in opposition penalty areas.
But he has surprising skill for a big man and is an accomplished finisher.
There have been indications that Capello intends to pair Carroll with Rooney but so far injuries have made this an impossibility.
Carroll did get off the mark for his country, however, with a fine strike against Ghana.
