Germany vs. Cameroon: 2017 Confederations Cup Live Stream, Schedule, Prediction
Germany can secure their spot in the semi-finals of the 2017 Confederations Cup on Sunday at the Fisht Olympic Stadium in Russia, as they face Cameroon in their final Group B encounter.
The world champions need three points to ensure they finish in the top two of their four-team pool, having beaten Australia and drawn with Chile already. And Joachim Low’s much-changed group of players will be favourites to pick up the win needed to confirm their progression.
Cameroon, meanwhile, need to win by three clear goals if they are to usurp the Germans in the standings, with a lesser victory not sufficient to make them guaranteed semi-finalists. The African champions would need Australia to pull off a shock big win over Chile in Group B’s other encounter.

Given Low opted to leave out a clutch of key players for the Confederations Cup, few knew quite what to expect of Germany in Russia.
Unsurprisingly, their performances have been a little uneven. In their first game, they eventually overcame a diligent Australia side by the odd goal in five, while a 1-1 draw with South American kings Chile was respectable. Now the manager will be looking for this young group to finish the job.
As noted by OptaFranz, the squad Low took to this tournament is one with the future in mind, especially compared to some rival nations:
Although there have been plenty of rising stars catching the eye for Germany at this tournament, it’s the old man of the side, the 28-year-old Lars Stindl, who has been the most impressive.
The versatile Borussia Monchengladbach man has added an edge to Low’s side in the final third, sniffing out space and puzzling defenders with his sharp movement. When chances have dropped to him, Stindl has been ruthless, too, netting in both games so far.

Although competition is fierce in the Germany setup for spots in the attacking positions, Stindl will feel he has made a strong case to be considered more frequently. Journalist Jonathan Harding believes the attacker has what it takes to be a major asset:
Germany will need their striker to be at his clinical best again on Sunday in what is a must-win game for Die Mannschaft. Cameroon, after all, can be a dangerous side at their best.
Admittedly, up to this point, Hugo Broos’ side haven’t shown too much of the form that saw them become African champions earlier this year. They were able to keep out Chile for long spells before eventually succumbing to a 2-0 loss and in their second outing, they were frustrated by Australia.

As journalist Oluwashina Okeleji noted after their draw against the Socceroos, there was a fractured streak to the performance of the Indomitable Lions:
Low has admitted he will make some changes in personnel for the upcoming match, per DW Sports, yet that’s unlikely to make matters any easier for Cameroon given the squad depth available to Germany.
The world champions will need to be careful in this encounter nonetheless. In big games recently, Cameroon have upped their levels, and while late goals from Arturo Vidal and Eduardo Vargas condemned them to a loss against Chile, they showcased a capability to shut out bright attacking talent.
Even so, Low’s side have the class to control the tempo of this game and keep the pressure heaped on their opponents for long spells. The end result will be a comfortable win for Germany.
Prediction: Germany 2-0 Cameroon
