The Cucumber Growers claimed their fourth La Liga victory of the season as they temporarily climbed clear of the relegation dogfight below them.

The hosts from the outskirts of the Spanish capital took the lead after only six minutes, as Robert found the net to break the deadlock.

The winger slotted his effort away from close range to send the Municipal de Butarque crowd into rapture.

Osasuna looked stunned after surrendering an advantage to their opponents, but the visitors slowly built their way back into the contest.

A rare effort from Roberto Torres was off target for Osasuna, and their accuracy was left wanting as Leganes attempted to double their lead.

They finally scored their second of the night as Robert collected his brace after 57 minutes. The attacker found the bottom corner as David Timor provided the assist.

The goal came against the run of play as the Pamplona side searched hard for an equaliser, and Robert's effort completely took the wind out of their sails.

Osasuna had no fight in their bones after the goal, and they could have conceded more as they folded.

Robert ran wild as he cut in from wide, but the hosts could not extend their lead despite playing a pedestrian side in the latter stages.

The Galacticos remain in control in La Liga after their derby win against Atleti, and they lead the standings after their success at the Vicente Calderon Stadium.

Real are four points clear of Barcelona, making the forthcoming El Clasico one of the most important for the Catalans in recent years.
