Southampton vs. Liverpool: Team News, Preview, Live Stream, TV Info
Premier League leaders Liverpool can extend their advantage at the top of the table if they beat Southampton at St. Mary's Stadium on Saturday.
The Reds are a single point ahead of Chelsea, who play Middlesbrough on Sunday, but they will also hope third-placed Manchester City and fourth-placed Arsenal slip up on Saturday.
The Gunners will begin the weekend's matches by facing Manchester United at Old Trafford, a fixture they haven't won in the league since 2006. Meanwhile, City will also be on their travels when they visit Selhurst Park to take on Crystal Palace.
Of course, other results will mean little if Liverpool can't beat Southampton. It won't be easy, even though the Reds have been in free-scoring form. However, the Saints possess their own quality in a deep squad.

Liverpool are at their prolific best when they are moving the ball with pace and imagination through midfield, no doubt facilitated by Adam Lallana and Georginio Wijnaldum's presence in the middle.

Yet the leaders will have to wait to see if Lallana can start. The former Southampton playmaker needs to be assessed after recent international duty with England.
Andy Hunter of the Guardian noted how the 28-year-old suffered a groin problem during the 2-2 friendly draw with Spain on Tuesday.
Liverpool would miss Lallana's vision and technical acumen. However, there are a number of options manager Jurgen Klopp could turn to if the England international can't play.
In fact, Ian Doyle of the Liverpool Echo has listed a few, with his best suggestion being to push Netherlands international Wijnaldum further forward: "While operating in a deeper midfield role thus far under Klopp, Wijnaldum’s versatility is such he’d have no problem slipping straight into the attacking central midfield role should it be vacated by Lallana."
Former PSV Eindhoven star Wijnaldum has been one of the most underrated performers in Liverpool's march to the top of the table. He's a tenacious competitor with the smarts, energy and eye for goal to be useful in every phase of the game.

Southampton boast their own talented options in midfield. Specifically, Spanish holding player Oriol Romeu has been a revelation since Claude Puel succeeded Ronald Koeman as manager in the summer.
There's also Dutch pass master Jordy Clasie and Northern Ireland international Steven Davis. This trio could prove vital, with Danish schemer Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg a doubt, according to the Southern Daily Echo.
Both teams possess keen forwards, but it's in midfield where this one will be won. Puel's Saints can resist Klopp's ultra-press approach provided Romeu is on form.

A score draw looks likely between two teams this capable in the middle.
