Diego Costa reclaimed his place as top scorer in the 2016-17 Premier League after bagging his sixth goal of the campaign in Saturday's 2-0 win at Hull City to help the Blues earn their first league victory since August.

The Spain international helped create Willian's opener against the Tigers just minutes before taking matters into his own hands to put his name on the scoresheet.

It was a good day for the away teams, too, after travelling outfits West Bromwich Albion, Bournemouth and Middlesbrough earned draws at Sunderland, Watford and West Ham United, respectively.

Those results weren't quite as positive when one considers those three away sides actually recorded the opening goals in each of their clashes before allowing their hosts back in to claim a result.

Earlier on Saturday, Liverpool clinched their fifth successive win across all competitions after second-half goals from Roberto Firmino and James Milner completed a 2-1 comeback win over Swansea City.

Leroy Fer opened the scoring in south Wales, but Milner's 84th-minute penalty—his fourth goal of the season—saw the Reds temporarily rise to second in the division, only two points below leaders Manchester City.

Read on for a breakdown of Saturday's Premier League results and how they affect the 2016-17 standings, as well as an updated top-scorer list and recap of the day's biggest goal headlines.

Costa Bringing Beauty to the Beast

Chelsea frontman Costa may well have been his usual brutish self during the disastrous campaign of 2015-16, but manager Antonio Conte has succeeded in bringing goals back to the striker's repertoire this term.

That seems certain after the forward netted the second goal in Chelsea's 2-0 victory at Hull on Saturday, and BBC Sport's Oluwashina Okeleji pointed out he wasn't the only Brazilian enjoying himself:

Costa was at his predatory best after a blocked Chelsea shooting attempt fell to his feet just inside David Marshall's area, and he lasered a bending effort acutely into the top-right corner of the net.

ESPN FC writer Jake Cohen also highlighted Chelsea have another source of goals waiting in the wings as Tammy Abraham continues to thrive on loan at Bristol City this season, leading the Championship scorer list:

It's very promising for the west Londoners to see two of their players leading the scoring ranks in both of England's top divisions, and Conte will feel even more at ease if those goals continue to yield results.

Despite enduring his rough patches under previous managers Jose Mourinho and Guus Hiddink, Costa looked back to his best on Saturday, and Chelsea reaped the rewards in kind.

Magic Milner Strikes Again

Following the summer arrivals of Sadio Mane and Georginio Wijnaldum, few might have predicted utility star James Milner would be the hero of Liverpool's campaign this far into the new season.

After converting twice from the spot against Hull City last Saturday, the former England midfielder added his fourth goal of the season from 12 yards at the Liberty Stadium in Week 7, leaving a great impression on Dominic King of the Daily Mail:

While all four of Milner's goals may have come from the penalty spot, keeping a cool head in those situations, not to mention beating the heady list of star talent at Anfield to the spot, is worthy of credit.

JOE.ie recently jested Milner, 31 in January, may even be proving himself a more valuable signing than current transfer world-record holder Paul Pogba:

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will hope his side are capable of crafting more beautiful works of art in front of goal rather than coming to rely largely on Milner's accuracy from the penalty spot.

That being said, if the Merseysiders keep attracting penalties and stand-in left-back Milner continues to tuck them away, not many Liverpool fans will care where those goals come from.
