Celtic vs. Manchester City: Pep Guardiola's Key Pre-Match Presser Quotes
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is expecting a tough atmosphere in a special stadium when he faces Celtic in Glasgow in the UEFA Champions League for the first time on Wednesday.
He also insisted on Tuesday he's not focused on breaking the records in sight thanks to the club's current winning run, but he did offer positive news on injured stars Kevin De Bruyne and Vincent Kompany.
Guardiola's Citizens will arrive at Celtic Park as heavy favourites for their Group C match, after winning 10 games in all competitions since he took over, while Celtic were humiliated 7-0 in Barcelona last time out in this tournament.
Still, Guardiola is wary of the famously raucous atmosphere at the home of the Hoops. He revealed he's sought the opinions of players old and new on what to expect, per Celtic:
"PG: "Have spoken with some players who have played here & also in Bayern Munich & they all say it’s tough, with the atmosphere." #UCL (MH)

Still, the former Barca and Bayern Munich chief insisted he's relishing the challenge, according to City's official Twitter account:
Guardiola is right to be both bold and wary about the trip to Glasgow. Celtic's terrific home support has inspired the Bhoys to more than one famous win over a big club in Europe. One of the most notable came in 2006 when Shunsuke Nakamura downed City's local rivals, Manchester United, with a stunning free-kick.
It was a goal that sent Celtic through to the knockout round, something Guardiola's City are expected to achieve this year. They already have three points in the bag after beating capable Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach 4-0 in their first group game.
Yet Guardiola is refusing to rest on his laurels, instead emphasising there's still a long way to go in a daunting group:
His old club, Barcelona, are naturally expected by many to top the standings, but Guardiola's new team need show no fear after their blistering start to the season. Victories from their next two games would see City set a new benchmark for winning runs in English football, according to TalkSport's Craig Bloomfield. They would also surpass a club-record 11 straight wins.
However, Guardiola insisted he's not focused on any milestones; he just wants to leave Glasgow with maximum points:
His team will have to earn those points without two key figures. Kompany, a defender, is out, as is star attacking midfielder De Bruyne.
Fortunately for City fans, Guardiola revealed neither player will be sidelined for long, per Stuart Brennan of the Manchester Evening News:
The City boss also detailed what steps both players are taking to make speedy returns:
De Bruyne, in particular, figures to be a big miss. His movement, creative temperament and eye for goal have made him arguably City's best player so far this season.
Still, Guardiola has enough options up front to boss the ball and score the goals to leave Celtic downhearted on home soil.
