Let's be honest. Ronaldinho's glory days are past him.
Maybe, just maybe, though, they're not as long ago as you thought.
Remember that sick overhead kick against Villarreal? That was almost six years ago.
Remember that cheeky-flukey cross-shot that reduced David Seaman to tears at the World Cup? A decade old, friends. Ten years!
Over the last few years, Ronaldinho has put on and lost weight, played for a club that didn't pay him, and lost a lucrative sponsorship deal with Coca-Cola. Now 32, the two-time former FIFA World Player of the Year is doing his thing for Atletico Mineiro in the Brazilian league.
So you can understand the hubbub that came about over the weekend when Ronaldinho scored a slick goal for Atletico Mineiro against Cruzeiro on Sunday in Brasileirão action. It was so good, we've chosen it for the Set Piece video of the day.
The goal appears in the clip above. Watch as Ronaldinho picks up the ball in midfield, shimmies past a few defenders, pauses at the perfect time to freeze the keeper and buries his shot at the far post.
In a word, it was classic. In two words, it was vintage Ronaldinho.
The goal put Atletico Mineiro ahead 2-1, but Cruzeiro tied it up in stoppage time and held on for a 2-2 draw. While disappointing, the draw meant Atletico stayed atop the table for at least another match.
So is it time to get excited about Ronaldinho again? Can he parlay this goal into a full-on career renaissance?
Time will tell.
