Rumors circulated throughout Twitter today that Liverpool's Maxi Rodriguez was set to leave Merseyside for his home country, Argentina.

As was reported by

Maxi Rodriguez has secured a return to his native Argentina after three years at Liverpool.

This led many Liverpool fans to believe that the South American was following Dirk Kuyt's steps to leave the historical club.

Faithful Liverpool fans on Twitter believed of Maxi's departure:

However, it was revealed just hours earlier from an interview in Olé, that he was looking to see his contract out at Anfield.

Maxi has told Argentinian newspaper Ole that he has not left . False alarm. —

And from Olé:

"I do not know where these things came from, I have one year left on my contract at Liverpool and did not talk to anybody," said Rodriguez, ensuring that there is no agreement between him and Newell's. The rumors started because Maxi is located in Rosario, due to the birth of his daughter, Aitana.

Even so, the Liverpool fans who were quick to jump at the farewell of the South American seems a little light-hearted, perhaps even relieved to see the man leave.

Although tributes were paid—video montages of the rare Maxi appearance (12 total league appearances last season)—no one seemed too nonplussed at the news.

Does this mean Maxi should be going out the door?
