New York Giants: Which Team Will Show Up Against Dallas Cowboys in Week 17?

Pete SchauerDec 27, 2011

After a defensive win over the city-rival New York Jets on Christmas Eve, the Giants will host another rival in the Dallas Cowboys for all the marbles.

Winner takes all, as whoever comes out of this game victorious will wear the NFC East crown and cruise to the playoffs.

In the win over the Jets, the G-Men sacked Mark Sanchez five times, including one for a safety, intercepted Sanchez twice, and recovered a Sanchez fumble on the goal line.

It was the defense that won the game for the Giants, as Eli Manning and the offense were subpar for most of the day.

Manning was 9-of-27 with a touchdown and an interception, with the touchdown coming via a ridiculous performance from Victor Cruz.

Big Blue was able to find the running game, with Ahmad Bradshaw running for 54 yards and two TDs and Brandon Jacobs gaining 42 yards on just seven carries.  On the day, the Giants rushed for a total of 115 yards, making it one of their best running performances this season.

So which Giants' team will we see on Sunday night?

Will it be the defense that held Tom Brady and the explosive New England Patriots offense to 20 points, and the defense that sacked Sanchez five times and forced three turnovers? Or will it be the Giants team that never really came to play and was blown out 23-10 by the Washington Redskins in Week 15?

Justin Tuck regained his swagger against the Jets, finishing with four tackles, one sack and two pass deflections. He has already given the Cowboys bulletin-board material, stating, "I still hate the Cowboys."

Last time the Giants squared off against the Cowboys, Tuck was unable to play, leaving Jason Pierre-Paul to pick up the slack.

JPP won the game for New York, blocking a Dallas field-goal attempt at the end of the game, and also racking up six tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble.

If the Giants are going to defeat their division rivals and take the NFC East, they'll need JPP and "Elite Manning" to carry the load.
