6 NBA Teams Already Facing Terrifying Injury Concerns
In the wake of the Jeff Green news, all injuries are put in perspective. Better to miss a season than miss the rest of your life. It's a great thing that they caught this in time, although it leaves the Celtics in a bad spot.
Still, there are some other injuries that are worth keeping an eye on, and these are the five teams who have the most concern over injuries already.
Milwaukee Bucks
1 of 6The Milwuakee Bucks might have "injury" concerns more than injury concerns. There are reports that this might have something more to do with the "bucks" than an actual injury concern.
He returned to practice today after receiving an epidural, but this is the sort of "injury" that can flare up again.
Then again, there might be an actual injury.
New York Knicks
2 of 6Baron Davis is going to be a crucial piece of the puzzle for the Knicks this year. It's just a question of when he fills in.
Right now, the feeling is that he should be able to come back in two months. The problem is that this is the kind of two months that could easily become three, or worse, once things are better this is an injury that could flair up again.
Boston Celitcs
3 of 6Paul Pierce has been battling a heel injury all season. It looks like the infernal thing just won't heal. Now, it's looking like he'll possibly miss the season opener.
Added onto the Jeff Green injury, this is really not good. The Celtics' long-term prospects aren't in jeopardy here, but the short term is. If this is the beginning of season of nicks and scrapes getting after the elder statesmen of the Celtics, this could be a long season for Boston, even if it is a shortened one.
Charlotte Bobcats
4 of 6Charlotte is collecting injuries. Tyrus Thomas has a sprained ankle. Reggie Williams is gone for six to eight weeks. DJ Augustin has a hyperextended elbow.
Los Angeles Lakers
5 of 6According to a press release from the Lakers organization, the three words no Lakers want to hear used together, "Kobe Bryant injured," are being used together.
"Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant, who suffered a right wrist injury in Monday night’s game against the Clippers, was examined today by Dr. Steven Shin of the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic and underwent an MRI exam. Results show that Bryant has a torn lunotriquetral ligament.
Bryant will not play in tonight’s game against the Clippers, and his status is day-to-day.
"
Considering how weak the backcourt gets after Bryant, this news is even more terrifying now that it would normally be. While it doesn't seem serious, it's one of those things that could persist, never quite going away.
Golden State Warriors
6 of 6This is the worst injury so far, and it's really sad to see. If you go to about the one-minute mark in the video, you can see it.
Stephen Curry has had repeated ankle problems, and this looks like a repeat of the same sort of thing. Seeing him crawl on the ground was rough to watch.
Hopefully he can get better soon. He's one of the good guys in the league.
