NBA Rumors: Free Agent Jamal Crawford Narrows Down List to 2 Teams
The Jamal Crawford saga has taken yet another turn as the New York Knicks are now out of the running for the veteran shooting guard.
That leaves just two teams vying for Crawford's services in the Portland Trailblazers and Sacramento Kings.
Portland makes sense.
Crawford could come off the bench—a role he's been fine with throughout his career—and provide some much needed scoring. Signing Crawford would also lessen the loss of the recently retired Brandon Roy.
It also makes sense for Crawford considering that Portland is close to his home in Seattle.
Sacramento doesn't make as much sense. Not necessarily for Crawford, but for the organization.
Crawford would likely get a ton of minutes with the Kings, and the Kings have the money to spend. However, why would they throw money at another shooting guard?
They just signed Marcus Thornton, who's a very good player, to a reasonable $31 million deal over four years.
They also drafted Jimmer Fredette, who is someone they most certainly will want to give minutes to at the two-guard spot. Don't forget that they traded for yet another score-first guard in John Salmons, too.
Adding Crawford to the mix makes little sense for Sacramento, given that there is only so many minutes to go around.
So, while there are two teams currently vying for Crawford's services, only one really makes sense.
