NFL Week 15 Predictions: New York Jets Will Keep Playoff Dream Alive vs. Eagles

Gabe ZaldivarDec 14, 2011

We have learned a great deal since Week 1 regarding the New York Jets and Philadelphia Eagles. The main lesson is that nothing can be taken for granted.

On Sunday, the Jets go to Philadelphia with a handle on one of the AFC wild-card spots. With any loss putting that into question, the Jets will have to pull out all the stops to make sure the season is not lost. So, it's a good thing the Eagles are their opponent.

Let us remember fondly what we all thought we knew just a few short months ago. The Eagles were a defensive juggernaut that would stifle teams from throwing on their three star cornerbacks.

The Jets would have to hunker down if they were going to keep in tow with this team that made a huge splash in the free-agent market.

While the Jets have struggled more than Rex Ryan would ever like to see, they are the ones holding onto a playoffs spot and the Eagles are left to wonder what went wrong.

Instead of being a stout defense, the Eagles have allowed teams to run up the yardage on a relatively inexperienced linebacker corps.

They have also been hit by injuries, most notably to Michael Vick, who should start once again this week after having a mediocre showing in Week 14.

Vick has made no secret that his ribs are still sore and that gives me cause for concern for the Eagles. The Jets lead from the defensive end and count their blessings with whatever Mark Sanchez and company can give.

Well, Sanchez has been playing very well and should give just enough to have the Jets leading most of this game. The Eagles don't have the momentum to get over on a sturdy Jets squad. New York lucked out by getting an Eagles team that has been the exact opposite of what we thought it would be.
