NBA Rumors: Blake Griffin's LA Clippers Frontrunners to Land CP3
Chris Paul must really want to go to LA, because apparently either the Los Angeles Lakers or the Los Angeles Clippers will do for the star point guard.
Ever since the news broke that the New Orleans Hornets would be willing to look for suitors for Paul, basketball fans all over the globe have been salivating at the thought of him playing with the Lakers.
Not only would he be playing for one of the most legendary franchises in sports and certainly an iconic team in the NBA, but we would get the chance to see him team up with Kobe Bryant game-in and game-out.
To the unbiased basketball fan, there aren't too many scenarios that sound better that that.
Bryant is obviously one of the best that the game has ever seen, averaging 25.3 points, 4.7 assists and 5.3 rebounds per game during his illustrious career.
His career averages are impressive enough, but the two NBA scoring titles, eight first-team All-NBA selections, 13 All-Star selections and five NBA championships really set Kobe apart.
While Paul is nowhere near the same level as Kobe, he would undoubtedly be the best player that Bryant has played with since Shaq and one could only imagine the great things the two could accomplish on the basketball court.
The sad part is that it almost happened. Frankly, it actually did happen. However, the trade was vetoed by the league.
The rejected trade has left fans waiting to know the fate of Paul. In the meantime, a new dream has surfaced via Marc Stein of ESPN.com.
The general assumption has been that either the Lakers or Knicks were the frontrunners to get Paul, but Stein is reporting that he wouldn't mind adding another team to that list:
"If he can't land with the Los Angeles Lakers or New York Knicks, Chris Paul's preference is to be traded by the league-owned New Orleans Hornets to the Los Angeles Clippers to play alongside Blake Griffin, according to sources close to the situation.
"
It's time to plug in the bright lights, boys and girls, because that would be a dream come true.
I can see the highlights right now.
There may not be a more explosive player in the league than Griffin, and I can only imagine how much more dynamic he would become with a playmaker like Paul on his side.
Not only that, but the duo could stay together much longer than the original pairing of Bryant and Paul, as many feel Kobe is on the downside of his career. What's more, they would probably even rival the Lakers for star-power and attractiveness.
The Clippers are apparently on Paul's wish list, and I can only imagine how much they want him on their squad.
At first, Paul to the Lakers seemed like a dream scenario. However, upon further review, he wouldn't look half bad with LA's other team.
