Fantasy Football Week 10: Julio Jones and More WRs Set to Explode
It’s Week 10 of the NFL schedule, can you believe it? It is unbelievable how time flies when you’re enjoying football. That only means one thing: Fantasy playoffs are around the corner. Here are a few wide receivers who could lead you to a fantasy victory because of their breakout performance.
Julio Jones
Julio Jones finally reached the end zone for the first time in his National Football League career. Not only did he score two touchdowns, but he caught a 50-yard pass and 80-yard pass to pile on.
Naysayers will still say that he only caught three passes in his efforts against the Indianapolis Colts, but what about the other games? He was productive in most of those, too. Jones has caught at least five balls three-out-of-seven games this season. He has only had two games where he recorded less than 70 yards.
He has been productive.
Jones gets another opportunity to prove himself, this time against the New Orleans Saints at Atlanta. This is the game of the year so far for the Falcons, with the loser dropping their fourth decision of the season plus having the edge if a tiebreaker were to happen at the end of the season.
Let’s see what he has to offer. This was one of the reasons why Atlanta traded up to get him in the draft.
With how well the Green Bay Packers have started in 2011 you would think that Jennings would be getting more love, but that hasn’t been the case. He is fourth in receptions (48), sixth in yards (723) and tied for second in touchdowns (6).
Aaron Rodgers isn’t hurting Jennings' case as one of the best wide receivers in the game, either. Anytime Rodgers is slinging the ball, all receivers have the capabilities of boosting their statistics.
It’s a Monday night game, and the stars shine in prime time. I believe that Jennings comes up big, and it reminds people just how good he is and has been this season. You know, one of those "Oh yeah, I forgot about him, he’s pretty good," type of deals.
Mike Wallace
Remember when the Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver predicted that he would eclipse 2,000 yards receiving this season? After starting out promising—he was never going to make it, by the way—he has only one 100-yard performance in the past six contests.
With the emergence of Antonio Brown, Wallace will get less attention from the defense. Brown, who has more targets than Wallace, will garner attention as well as tight end Heath Miller.
Cincinnati hasn’t played a quarterback as good as Ben Roethlisberger this year. The Bengals are second against the rush in the NFL so Rashard Mendenhall should be held down, but what about Big Ben? He should go off.
Big Ben and Wallace have attempted the deep ball multiple times this season while only connecting on a handful. Roethlisberger and Wallace connect on at least one, allowing Wallace to get over 100 yards receiving.
