Hakeem Nicks Injury: Updates on Giants Star's Week 10 Status and Fantasy Value
New York Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks didn't play against the New England Patriots with a bothersome hamstring injury. Even though the team was able to beat New England without him, they would love to get Nicks back ahead of a marquee NFC clash with the San Francisco 49ers in Week 10.
Keep checking back to this page throughout the week for the latest updates on Nicks' availability and potential fantasy value.

Signs are encouraging for Hakeem Nicks to be able to play in Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers, but, according to Ebenezer Samuel of the New York Times, the final test comes on Saturday.
"Hakeem Nicks’ injured hamstring has passed every test so far this week, and if the Giants’ top wideout wants to play on Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers, he will have to pass one final exam today.
“I guess waking up in the morning and seeing how it feels (will be key),” Nicks said. “I guess they’ll let me know something in the morning. So far, it’s passed every test.”
Nicks went through a limited practice on Friday, the second straight day that he has run around and challenged his hamstring, and he said the workout “turned out pretty good.” However, he has still been very cautious with the injury, and the Giants list him as questionable for Sunday.
"
Considering how dominant the 49ers defense has been this season, the Giants will need all the playmakers they can get. Nicks is by far their best big play threat and, barring a significant setback, he will be on the field.

With Ahmad Bradshaw officially being ruled out, the New York Giants can't afford to have Nicks sidelined. Unfortunately, the uncertainty surrounding Nicks' status will remain, as he is a game-time decision, according to Giants' beat writer Jeff Roberts.
Roberts does sound optimistic about Nicks' chances though, which is good news for Giants fans who have to feel frustrated with their injury situation.

ESPN's Chris Mortenson is reporting via twitter that Nicks will be participating in individual drills before he can practice with the team.
While it is good news that he is healthy enough to perform these drills, I still wouldn't be holding my breath to see him on Sunday.
That being said, Paul Schwartz of the New York Post is reporting that Nicks feels he is good to go for the Giants matchup with the San Francisco 49ers:
"Nicks said he was able to run full speed on the side and believes he will be able to play Sunday against the 49ers in San Francisco.
"
As with any injury situation, this one is extremely fluid, so stay tuned for updates. Hamstrings tend to be a very nagging injury, so don't be surprised if his status changes.

The New York Giants managed to win without Hakeem Nicks last week, but they would love to have him back on the field. Good news today, as the Giants official Twitter page reported Nicks was a participant at practice today.
The Giants take on a tough San Francisco 49ers team this Sunday, and they really need Nicks on the field. They started slow last week, and with Nicks back out there it will help the Giants to succeed.
As far asa fantasy football is concerned, Nicks is OK for you lineup right now, but continue to keep an eye on him the rest of the week. Just like last week, if he isn't feeling healthy enough then he won't play because he know re-injuring himself isn't worth it.

Mike Garafolo, who is the Giants beat reporter for The Star-Ledger, passed along news from head coach Tom Coughlin. While it's good to know things are trending in the right direction for Nicks, it appears tomorrow is the earliest his Week 10 status will be made more clear.
Nicks is a top-10 wide receiver when healthy, so fantasy owners desperately want him back. However, hamstring injuries tend to linger and are prone to setbacks, so the Giants may decide to play it safe. We'll find out more and update his status as soon as possible.
