WWE Vengeance 2011 Results: Return of Kevin Nash Equals More Boring TV

Tim DanielsOct 24, 2011

If you've ever doubted the WWE's dedication to a storyline, that should have ended last night when Kevin Nash emerged from the crowd to attack Triple H. Diesel hasn't been the least bit entertaining in nearly a decade, something that was painfully obvious during his recent promos.

His in-ring work has always been limited, which is the case for most supersized wrestlers, but the more pressing issue is the lack of fan reaction when he talks.

Putting him into a verbal war with CM Punk was a disastrous idea to begin with. There was no chance Nash could match Punk's crowd involvement, let alone keep up with his quick wit. So Big Sexy could argue he was launched into a no-win environment.

Since Nash was laid out by a Triple H sledgehammer shot at Night of Champions, the company has done everything within its power to make the WWE Universe forget about him so Sunday's reappearance would be a shock.

Instead, they illustrated a completely different point—an outside influence isn't necessary.

Even though the build up to Vengeance was rushed due to a lack of time, there has been more than enough moving pieces to keep fans guessing.

There's only enough air time to showcase a limited number of superstars and the return of Nash (not to mention The Rock) will only further hurt promising but underutilized guys like Daniel Bryan and Wade Barrett, who wrestled a dark match prior to the pay-per-view.

Nash's comeback might cause a spark in the short term, but it will pale in comparison to the amount of time now necessary to rebuild the Bryan and Barrett characters. Especially Bryan, who will need to be on quite a roll heading into WrestleMania.

In the future, the WWE should worry more about the roster it already has in place than bringing back outdated superstars. There are plenty of guys in the locker room who could have served as John Laurinaitis's goon.

Most of them are probably a lot more entertaining than Nash, which isn't difficult to be. At the very least, let's hope the fans aren't forced to endure more promos from Nash, who should probably now use the nickname Mr. Over The Hill.
