MLB World Series 2011: Humbled Texas Rangers Will Prevail After 2010 Series Loss

Alex KayOct 19, 2011

The Texas Rangers are back in the World Series for the second-year in a row and they aren’t going to blow this precious chance.

The team obviously knows how hard it is to make it this far and I can’t imagine them having any aspirations lower than handily taking care of business, one game at a time.

In an article from the Dallas Observer last year around this time, Richie Whitt wrote:

While San Francisco did upset the Philadelphia Phillies in the NLCS, they have a record six one-run wins this post-season. The Rangers—fueled by an offense that has produced 17 home runs and 16 stolen bases—have won their seven playoff games by run margins of four, six, four, five, eight, seven and five.

We all know what happened last year, when the San Francisco Giants dismantled the Rangers four games to one.

Just because you rolled over some teams to get here certainly does not mean you will continue to do that.

It’s the WORLD SERIES for crying out loud and anything can happen.

The St. Louis Cardinals are the hottest team in baseball right now and have been since Aug. 24, going 30-13.

You cannot underestimate this group of players who overcame countless injuries but persevered and snuck into the postseason.

Now they have snuck into the World Series and want to win it just as bad as the Rangers.

I think the Rangers experience from last year is the X-factor and the reason they will take this series.

They will not let the Cardinals get the best of them and they certainly won’t come strutting in like they are the meanest team in baseball, something they certainly seemed to do at times last season.

Expect this to be a great World Series but look for the Rangers to prevail because of experience.
