UFC 136 Results: Power Ranking Jose Aldo's 4 Title Defenses

Tim McTiernanOct 9, 2011

Jose Aldo has now defended his UFC featherweight title twice. Combine that with his two WEC title defenses, and he has four.

Only one of those title fights was a finish, but Aldo looked good in every fight.

He may not be destroying people left and right, but at the championship level that can't always happen.

Which defense was most impressive for Aldo?

How about least impressive?

Check it out.

No. 4: Mark Hominick

1 of 4

At UFC 129, Jose Aldo attempted to make the first defense of his UFC featherweight title when he took on Mark "The Machine" Hominick.

Hominick was a great striker in his own right, but he was no match for Aldo, as he was dominated for most of the fight.

Then in Round 5, Aldo gassed out badly and was beat down for the remainder of the round.

No. 3: Kenny Florian

2 of 4

The second defense of his UFC title came on Saturday night at UFC 136 against Kenny Florian.

Kenny Florian was a longtime top contender in the lightweight division, but after losing two fights for the lightweight title, and then losing in a No. 1 contender match, he decided to drop to featherweight.

This was another unanimous-decision victory for Aldo, but he didn't have one round where he was utterly destroyed. This one was better than the fight against Hominick.

No. 2: Manny Gamburyan

3 of 4

The second defense of Aldo's WEC featherweight title came against former UFC lightweight and The Ultimate Fighter 5 finalist, Manny Gamburyan.

This has been Aldo's only finish so far in title defenses, and boy was it impressive.

In the second round, Aldo rocked Gamburyan with an uppercut, then as Gamburyan was collapsing to the mat, Aldo spun around, took Gamburyan's back, and landed a lot of unanswered punches, which put Gamburyan out cold.

No. 1: Urijah Faber

4 of 4

This was Aldo's first ever title defense of his WEC belt, and this was, without a doubt, his most impressive title defense.

For all five rounds, Aldo battered and bruised Faber's leg with leg kicks, and he beat Faber to a pulp.

Not only was this a huge event for Aldo, but it was one of the biggest events in the history of the WEC.

Aldo had his best title defense here, and he hasn't looked back since.
