IMPACT 10/6: Hogan's Retirement, Roode/Storm, BFG Updates, Jeff Hardy (Humor)
Another Thursday down, another review to do.
Before we get started I think, no, I know all of you are wondering about my #TwitterQuest. I'm trying to get a response (Re-tweet, reply, block, whatever) from every wrestler on the IMPACT roster with a Twitter account.
Here's the latest news on my journey. Last week I said that Robbie E, Eric Young and Don West have all been checked off my list. Now, two more wrestlers can be added to that list.

Cody vs. Randy Flops As Mania Fails To Deliver
I received a re-tweet and a reply from former TV Champion, Gunner!
I also mentioned the British Invasion's, Magnus and Douglas Williams, in a tweet with my Six Reasons Why the British Invasion Should Be Tag Team Champions Again. Remember that slideshow? Yeah, you liked it. It was the kick off to my new series.
Well with that article in mind (and on Twitter) the former Tag Team Champion, X Division Champion and TV Champion Douglas Williams re-tweeted it!
That's five. Count it, five wrestlers off the list.
IMPACT this week is brought to you from Knoxville, Tennessee. The place of "Hard Knox." Yes, I to try have bad puns for everywhere IMPACT goes. "Hunting Ground" now "Hard Knox." Lame? Maybe so...
Hogan in the House
Footage is shown of Hogan and Bischoff arriving earlier. Apparently they car pool to work. Very fuel efficient...
Opening Segment
"BEER! MONEY!"
Beer Money comes to the ring, both guys dressed to compete. (They're going to face each other later tonight!)
Storm has the mic first and bashes Hogan for staying in wrestling too long so now guys like himself, AJ Styles, Bobby Roode, Samoa Joe and any young talent don't get the TV time they deserve. Fact.
Roode takes a mic and says he's almost ready for Kurt Angle. His final test will be James Storm in the main event later. He wants Storm to bring his all, Storm says he will and tells Roode that he's "Sorry 'bout your damn luck!"
Nervous?
Sting is backstage walking. He's wearing a red suit with a yellow Hulkamania t-shirt underneath.
Sting's ready to celebrate with Hulk during his retirement party!
Hall of Hulk Hogan
To further push the impossible, "Hogan Retires" story, they run clips of Hogan's most memorable moments in TNA.
Tazz dubs the Hogan/Bischoff Regime the biggest era in company history. How long have you been in TNA, Tazz?
The clip is of January 4th 2010. Hogan's debut.
Nothing special.
Gunner vs. Kazarian
Little re-cap of last week when Gunner laid out Kazarian with an F5.
Pretty good back-and-forth match between these guys, Gunner targets Kazarian's arm the entire match.
The ending saw Gunner throw Kaz shoulder first into the ring post, then force him to tap out via arm bar submission. Gunner didn't let go after the bell rang and the ref reversed the decision.
Winner: By DQ, Kazarian
Gunner didn't really care about his DQ loss, but just aimed to injure the former X Division champ. Medical guys aided Kazarian.
Anderson's Offer
Mr. Anderson hits the ring and says he made a stupid mistake. He turned on these people a few weeks, maybe months, ago and wanted to apologize.
He wanted to apologize to his a**holes! He apologized for joining Immortal and then called Bully Ray a douche bag. Bully came out and beat Anderson with his chain, with a kendo stick and in a match.
Bully Ray doesn't want to give Anderson a rematch at BFG.
Anderson offers to make it a Philadelphia Falls Count Anywhere match. Bully walks out.
Hype for Hogan
Eric Bischoff talks about Hogan retiring from wrestling. Says it's the end of an era and kisses Hogan's ass more than ever before.
Is that possible? Well, Bischoff proved so tonight...
Wizard of Odd, meet Kid Kash
We're with Brian Kendrick backstage. Kendrick rambles on in some strange way about his match with Austin Aries at BFG.
Kendrick says he tried to clean up the X Division but Aries just poisons it with his heel persona. He blames Aries for all the X Division heels and dirty tactics. Kendrick makes the mistake of mentioning Kid Kash.
Kash shows up and tells him to say it to his face!
Kash kicks Kendrick's ass right in the hallway and tells him to clean up his blood instead.
Bad-ass...
Mickie James & Velvet Sky vs. Winter & Madison Rayne
Mickie, Madison and Velvet are the hottest Knockouts ever. Them and Brooke Tessmacher make up the Fantastic Four in my book. Oh yeah, there was a match here.
Both teams made quick tags and Mickie was actually the punching bag for the heel team for a bit.
Mickie tagged in Velvet who came in on fire. Earl Hebner was distracted and Angelina went to grab Velvet but accidentally grabbed Winter instead.
With Angelina holding Winter down, Velvet dropped an elbow on her. Angelina realized she f'ed up and jumped onto the apron. Velvet knocked her off and Madison got a roll up from behind.
Winners: Madison Rayne & Winter w/ Angelina
Hardy's Here!
Jeff Hardy is shown walking backstage...
That is all for now...
Hogan Rewind
It shows Hogan with Abyss. Hogan in his red and yellow attire getting ready to fight AJ Styles and Ric Flair in a tag match.
Kurt the Cry Baby
Kurt Angle is complaining about Hardy to Bischoff. Bischoff says he's got this.
Bischoff gets to the ring and brings Hardy out. He bashes Hardy, like everyone else, and Bischoff votes no in Hardy's "Vote of Confidence."
There's not really a vote, just a jab towards WWE by me. Relax, it's a friendly jab.
Bischoff says Hardy made dropping the ball an art form and is a screw up. Bischoff pretty much says something along these lines...
After being called a jagaloon (In the words of Robert Doback), Hardy hits Bischoff with a Twist of Fate. Immortal charges the ring but Jeff runs.
Camera guys follow Hardy around and Jeff says he'll leave on his own terms.
Hogan Rewind
Enough with these damn Hogan rewinds!
He fires Dixie Carter and gets complete control.
Waste of time!
Samoa Joe vs. Crimson
Here's a Slammiversary rematch...three months later.
It's pretty back and forth until Joe targets Crimson's injured ankle. After that moment, Joe kicks ass.
Hard Knox has a good amount of Joe fans. They even start up the notorious, "Joe's Gonna Kill You!" chants.
If you like Samoa Joe whooping someone's ass, you'll like this match.
Joe grabs Crimson in some heel lock submission. Crimson is about to tap but rolls it into a roll-up pin of all things!
Winner: Undefeated, Crimson
Samoa Joe is my next victim in Six Reasons Why. Check it out this Sunday.
It's a Date
Bully Ray accepts Anderson's challenge.
He really took his time to think about it, right?
"Bobby Balboa"
Another video of Bobby Roode training for his world title match at BFG.
Roode talks more about his desire to be world champion and his parents make some comments.
Some time in the night, Tenay said that Kazarian was taken to the hospital for his injured arm courtesy of Gunner. No. Gunner injured him, he didn't drive Kazarian to the hospital.
Main Event
James Storm vs. Bobby Roode
Can you believe these two never, in the nine years of TNA's history, had a match against each other?
Roode asked Storm to bring his all. Storm brought his all and some more.
I'd call this the match of the night if you asked me.
Both guys went for finishing moves early on but were too familiar with each other since they have been tag partners for four years, you know.
There was a lot of near falls and the match was given good time. They crowd chanted "This is Awesome!"
There was a ref bump which allowed Kurt Angle to interfere, but he attacked James Storm. Yeah, he threw Storm into the steel steps then back into the ring. Anyone else think Angle attacked the wrong guy? Oh well, Kurt must've been drunk again.
Seconds after Angle interfered the crowd went from, "This is Awesome!" to "Angle Sucks!"
Roode went for a pin, Storm kicked out, Roode grabbed Storm and hit a Pay-Off.
Winner: Bobby Roode
No one in the match knows about Kurt's involvement. Maybe Storm does since Angle sent him head first into steel steps...
BFG Update
AJ Styles vs. Christopher Daniels has been confirmed for Bound For Glory. They will wrestle an "I Quit" match. Interesting...
Go Home, Hogan!
Seriously, go home. Leave.
Hogan comes out to a good pop and starts his goodbyes. The crowd chants for him and he cries and swings his Hulkamania belt over his head like Muscle Man from Regular Show.
Sting comes out and throws the BS flag. He shows a video proving that Hogan is staying and that this was a (put on your surprise faces) hoax. A publicity stunt. A way to boost merchandise sales.
Hogan gets pissed and says he'll fight Sting at BFG.
Great, just what we all wanted (End sarcasm).
Overall, I thought there could've been more matches. Where was Ink Inc, Mexican America, RVD or Jerry Lynn?
They put way too much attention into Hogan's fake-out retirement. Hogan rewinds and calling it the best era in TNA.
Time to break it down, pros/cons style like Jim from The Office.
It's back! Just without Steve Carrell as Michael Scott...
Pros:
- James Storm's opening promo on Hulk Hogan
- Gunner vs. Kazarian
- Kid Kash attacks Kendrick
- Knockouts tag match
- Samoa Joe looked strong in his match
- Main event
- Retirement party
Cons:
- Kazarian "injured"
- Hogan's best moments?
- Anderson's offer. We knew the match was going to happen already
- Jeff Hardy might have too big of a role in IMPACT
- Angle scared of Hardy?
- Retirement party
Having Kazarian get injured right now is stupid. They can have Kazarian/Jarrett feud into Turning Point and possibly Final Resolution. I don't see a point in taking him out.
Who really thought Hogan was going to retire?
This IMPACT could've been better in my opinion. They need to further hype up matches like RVD/Lynn, Aries/Kendrick, Ink Inc/Mexican America and Roode/Angle.
Hogan took up too much TV time for me.
