Rams' Sean McVay Jokes About NFL Players Returning to CFB Amid Dae'Quan Wright-LSU Buzz

We live in interesting times, especially when it comes to the world of college football eligibility. Just ask Sean McVay.

"I feel like I took a freakin' gummy," the Los Angeles Rams head coach told reporters when asked about NFL players returning to the college game after Dae'Quan Wright joined LSU on the transfer portal following short stints with the Philadelphia Eagles and Cleveland Browns this summer.

Wright was one of several athletes who sued for restraining orders that would allow them to play in college for a fifth season. The NCAA granted five years of eligibility over the course of five years going forward in a new ruling this offseason but didn't grandfather in athletes who started college during the 2022-23 academic year. In Louisiana, however, a judge granted such athletes a temporary restraining order that allowed them that fifth year of eligibility.

Wright signed with the Eagles this offseason as an undrafted free agent and suited up for the Browns in a preseason game, though he didn't play. That made his return to college quite controversial, though it's also—at least for the moment—completely legal.
