Adrian Beltre: Rangers Won't Be Denied with a 3rd Baseman Swinging Like This

Richard LangfordOct 4, 2011

Adrian Beltre just grooved himself into a hot streak that is going to carry the Rangers to a World Series championship. He jacked three solo homers for the Rangers in Game 4. The third came in the seventh inning and proved to be the game and series winner.

The Rangers won the game 4-3 and now await the winner of the Tigers-Yankees series.

The winner of that series now has to hold onto the false hope that the time off for the Rangers is enough to cool off the red-hot Beltre. Otherwise, they will be making a short and disappointing trip to the ALCS.

Beltre is no stranger to hot streaks. He can hit home runs in bunches. All signs point to Beltre keeping this streak going.

Beltre ended the regular season smoking hot. However, he began this series with a thud. Beltre entered this game in a 1-for-11 slump.

Then something clicked.

Beltre, as quoted on bostonherald.com:

"

"The first couple games their pitching was really good. Today something changed, I felt more comfortable at the plate and I did something to help my team win."

"

There was concern that Beltre would flounder in his recent slump. However, he showed that 1-for-11 stretch was just a blip on the radar. He has slid right back into his groove, and it is here to stay.

Beltre is the kind of hitter that can have the game slow down for him and keep it that way for prolonged stretches of time.

The Rangers have a potent lineup, and with Beltre leading the way, any production from the rest of the lineup will be insurance.

It is clear that the Rangers are ready to take the one step they couldn't cross last season and win the World Series.
