WWE: The Great Khali "Injured" by Mark Henry on SmackDown
"Break a leg" has been used time and again in show business. Usually, it's taken to mean "Do your best." However, the WWE has taken this saying a little too literally.
WWE.com's Kevin Powers posted a news article about Khali:
""WWE.com has learned that The Great Khali has suffered a fractured fibula following a brutal attack by World Heavyweight Champion Mark Henry on SmackDown Friday night.
Dr. Michael Sampson confirmed the devastating injury to The Punjabi Giant and that the fracture was very similar to the injuries suffered by both Big Show and Kane at the hands of The World’s Strongest Champion.
The injury occurred moments after Mark Henry impressively secured a victory against The Great Khali following the World’s Strongest Slam. Wrapping a steel chair around the Punjabi Superstar’s leg, Henry ascended the ropes and brought all of his weight down on his opponent’s leg. Writhing in pain and unable to stand on his own, the fallen giant was tended to by medical technicians and taken out of the arena on a cart."
"
Ouch.
Of course, this was done to write the Punjabi Pimp/Nightmare off TV for a spell, probably to give his body some rest and maybe heal some nagging injuries. Ultimately, no time for his return was given, but it will likely be a few months.
As you might recall, The Big Show and Kane were both written off TV in a similar fashion, presumably to give their bodies a rest. Khali recently turned 39, so this would make sense.
With Big Show and Kane due back relatively soon, the "Red" and "Blue" brand won't have a shortage of big men for long. How this will affect Jinder Mahal or their current storyline remains to be seen. Suffice to say that it remains on hold for now.
