Arsenal-Chelsea: Robin Van Persie Shatters The Bridge As Gunners Turn On Style
Arsenal couldn't lose forever, could they? "Nightmare November" began with a win over Man U and ended with a win over Chelsea at The Bridge, with Champions League Qualification squeezed in between.
The match started well with Chelsea taking the game to Arsenal. The pace of the game was tremendous even without Walcott. Nasri and Denilson worked at the extremes of the field and were the suppliers for Van Persie and Adebayor. Deco and Ballack ran Chelsea's midfield, supporting Anelka and Kalou up front.
Kalou was not short of breath and he looked dangerous whenever he got the ball. Arsenal's first real chance came through Van Persie. It took a fingertip save from Cech to deny Van Persie from the left post.

Next, it was Gallas' turn. Gallas' miss couldn't have been more horrible as a simple touch on the ball would see it at the back of the net. The deadlock continued till the half hour mark and it wasn't a Chelsea player who broke it. Rather, Chelsea's first goal was the result of a mistake between Almunia and Djourou which saw the latter put the ball into his own net.
Arsenal didn't take long to turn back the clock to 2004. Close to the hour mark, Van Persie's shot hit the back of the net. That meant Chelsea's record of not having conceded a single goal in the second half of any Premier League match was shattered. Hardly three minutes had passed, and after a class header from Adebayor, Van Persie fired another one into the far post. The scoreboard read 1-2.
One person who really bothered me was Ivanovic. He made horrible tackles on the Arsenal players and was lucky not to have seen red. John Terry, if you ask me was, also lucky not to have seen red. Another player who bothered me was Denilson. I just can't understand how he failed to add another goal from Bendtner's beautiful pass.
Sagna was outstanding, Djourou despite the mistake had a good game, and Fabregas ran the midfield well. But at the end of the day, the special man is Van Persie. It was a promising night for the Gunners, and hopefully this win will not be followed by a defeat.
