WWE vs. TNA vs. ROH: Why Negativity Is Killing the IWC and Wrestling in General
This is the second installment in my WWE vs. TNA vs. ROH series. For my first article on why a second Monday night wars would be terrible, please click the link here.
When I look at the IWC I see three groups of people: casual fans that enjoy watching wrestling once in a while, hardcore fans that watch all promotions and then fanatics that only watch one brand for enjoyment and think everything else is terrible. Now while all this is fine and good, the sad truth is the third group seems to be the most populated.
Let me sum up this article in five words: I don't get blind haters.

Maybe it's because I look at wrestling more as a consumer and less as a blind, loyal fan. Maybe it's because I expose myself to all the big three wrestling promotions (WWE, TNA and Ring of Honor), as well as several indy promotions. And maybe, just maybe, it's because I spent my childhood thinking everything ECW did was perfect and then realizing years later how wrong I was.
The thing is, in this day and age, where we have tons of choices when it comes to the styles of wrestling we watch, we have to be so critical of what others like.
For example, an article (on another website) was published the other day that was comparing the WWE to TNA, saying that, in the end, the WWE was miles above TNA, but their reasons were all opinions.
Another example of this can be seen if one was to go onto the ROH YouTube channel, designed for ROH to advance their storylines for fans that can't attend every house show, you'll see 200 dislikes that quite simply aren't deserved. And if you read the comments, the top comments are always "ROH=Failure" or "This guy is terrible, there's a reason the WWE doesn't sign these wannabes."
(The video to the side was a promo for Generico/Steen at ROH's Final Battle 2010, it's a great promo that has over 250 dislikes that aren't a reflection of the quality of work put into it.)
I just don't get it.
Why have we become so thin-skinned that we are so insecure about our opinions that we have to go insult the opinions of others?
I'm one of the few people out there that think all the products have a niche that they fill. Sure, they all have their problems, but I keep watching. You know why? Because I enjoy the product.
What? You enjoy that PG BS the WWE is putting out? You actually like the direction TNA is taking? You think Ring of Honor is wrestling?
Yes, yes I do.
We read reviews and if our opinions aren't justified, we call the writers stupid, because their opinions aren't the same as ours. I'm not talking about someone who is writing about something they don't know, or being overcritical about something, I'm talking about the people that see a TNA Impact review that receives an average grade and call it the writings of a "WWE Mark" because they didn't give it a 10 out of 10 and declare it the greatest wrestling spectacle in all the lands.
Do me a favor, if you think like that, please, close this article right now, step away from the computer and get some help, because you have a problem.
The world doesn't agree with everything you do. There are people out there with opinions that you don't share, and you know what, that's OK. If we all had the same opinion, the world would be boring, nothing would change and it would be stagnant.
Look, if you like the WWE and hate TNA for a good reason, that's OK, but why do you have to go to the TNA review and sound off about how it's a terrible product? If your're a fan of main stream wrestling, why do look down on independent wrestling when you've never seen a show?
Yet again, I don't get it.
We are entering a new era of wrestling, an era of choice, an era that isn't about some stupid "war" or what company's better than the other, but variety.
Look, I'm not saying you can't dislike something or express your opinion, but please remember that there are those out there that disagree with your opinion and that there is no such thing as having the best opinion.
If you think CM Punk is overrated, that's fine, but don't insult someone for liking it. If you are an avid Russo hater (I fall in this category), remember that there are people out there that actually like his booking decisions.
That's all I'm saying. Just because someone disagrees with you, don't disrespect their opinion.
As always, please comment bellow and thanks for reading.
See you Space Cowboy...
