BCS Madness: Should Texas Still Be No. 1?
Week 10, and what a week it was. The fallout of this past weekend's events is still being felt across the nation.
So what did we learn in the world of College Football this weekend?
Texas Tech is no longer a pretender. The Longhorns' grueling four-game stretch proved to be just too much. Fulmer's days at Tennessee are over.

Rookies Who Could Be Instant Stars 🌟
Georgia was the pretender many predicted. The Big East and ACC are brutally close to losing their BCS bids.
The State of Washington needs a break. Michigan 's bowl streak has ended. In addition, the BCS complaints get more ridiculous as each week passes.
Texas Tech
Huge congratulations are in order for the Red Raiders from Texas Tech. After blowing a 22-6 halftime lead, the Red Raiders were left with roughly 1:30 to drive the field to defeat the mighty Longhorns at home.
With one of the more dramatic finishes to end a football game you will ever see, Graham Harrell and Michael Crabtree hooked up for a 28-yard TD pass with :01 left in the game.
This is the stuff that legends are made of. Now the boys from Texas Tech need to strap it up again for tilts with Oklahoma State and Oklahoma if they are to keep their National Title hopes alive.
Most pundits simply don't believe that they can do it. We will definitely find out in the coming weeks just what these guys have in their proverbial tank and bag of tricks. I can't say I am one of the believers that thinks they can run the table in the rough and tumble Big 12 this year.
Texas
For as much credit that we need to give Texas Tech, we must also give a grand round of applause to the Longhorns from Texas. Trailing 19-0, and 22-6 at half, they showed their wares in what looked like another miraculous comeback, only to fall a second short.
What may be lost in this contest is the fact that Texas may still be the best team in the entire country. What should also be recognized is the ridiculousness of the coaches’ poll. How can Texas fall from No. 1 to No. 7 after losing a game in the waning seconds on the road to the now No. 2-ranked team in the country?
What is also lost is the fact that they beat Oklahoma. How could you honestly rank Oklahoma ahead of Texas right now? At least the BCS has this one right.
Phil Fulmer
It is now official. Phil Fulmer will no longer be the head coach at Tennessee after this season. Most people, including the majority of Tennessee fans, will say good riddance. I ask, why?
During his 16-plus-year career at Tennessee, Mr. Fulmer holds a distinguished record of 150-51. That is a 74.6 percent winning percentage in arguably the toughest conference in the entire country.
Included in his tenure were two conference championships and one National Championship. That single National Championship, oh by the way, was the first recognizable National Championship for Tennessee since 1951.
Yep, that would be 47 years of drought that the much-embattled Fulmer ended.
Therefore, while the Volunteer fans are cheering away, they should also be respecting the man that has given them so many great moments as well. Phil's likely demise has come at the hands of highly ranked recruiting classes that just haven't produced much on the field over the past four years.
What is really odd is that the Vols were in last year's SEC Championship game—not Georgia, and not Florida, but Tennessee. Ten games later, and Phil is looking for employment. I simply wish the best for Phil and his family.
He deserves to go out as a winner. It just won't be at Tennessee.
