WWE Money in the Bank: 10 Matches We'd Love to See at the Next WWE PPV

Drake OzJun 29, 2011

The second annual Money in the Bank pay-per-view is a little less than three weeks away, and we only have two confirmed matches so far: John Cena vs. CM Punk for the WWE Championship and the Raw Money in the Bank match.

Other than those highly-anticipated bouts, we don't know what the rest of the card will look like. But, considering that the two MITB matches will feature 16 of the best competitors from Smackdown and Raw, this pay-per-view won't have a ton of other matches.

Because of that, I've decided to do a little fantasy booking here and take a look at 10 matches I'd like to see at Money in the Bank.

I'm keeping it real, though. These aren't necessarily dream matchups, just ones that I think would make the card a bit deeper and more thorough than it currently is.

10. Fatal 4-Way for the WWE Tag Team Championship

1 of 10

New Nexus (Michael McGillicutty and David Otunga) vs. Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater vs. The Usos vs. Jinder Mahal and The Great Khali

Surprise, surprise—nothing groundbreaking or earth-shattering is going on in the WWE tag team division. Note the sarcasm.

The New Nexus have been the least entertaining--or even seen—WWE Tag Team Champs in recent memory, and WWE officials need to get the titles off them immediately.

Over on Smackdown, there are three choices to help them do that. So, I've thrown all of them against the champs because I think they're all deserving of a championship run in their own right.

After all, Jinder Mahal is in the midst of a big push on Smackdown, and it would make sense to put some gold around his waist, even if it means having to see The Great Khali attempt to wrestle on a weekly basis.

Also, the Usos have steadily improved over the last several months, and given that they're twins, they're the most legit tag team in the company.

And, like them or not, Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel make a pretty decent tag team, one that, overall, is leaps and bounds better than Otunga and McGillicutty.

9. The Big Show vs. Mark Henry

2 of 10

Normally, I would never want to see Mark Henry wrestle in any type of match, but even I have to admit that he has been more intriguing over the last three weeks than the five years prior to that.

I think that's why--thanks to the ending of last week's Smackdown--we could see Henry face Christian and Randy Orton in a Triple Threat match at Money in the Bank to help extend that feud to SummerSlam.

If not, though, Henry vs. The Big Show is an obvious choice here.

While it's certainly not going to be a technical classic, I've actually been quite entertained by the intensity both of these guys have shown recently and can tolerate this feud way more than I thought I'd be able to.

I'm not begging to see The Big Show take on "The World's Strongest Man," but their once stagnant characters seem to have some life lately, and they should be rewarded with a pay-per-view match.

8. Intercontinental Championship: Ezekiel Jackson vs. Sheamus

3 of 10

Based on last week's Smackdown and the way Ezekiel Jackson destroyed Wade Barrett, it seems like that dreadful feud is finally over.

Let's thank the wrestling gods for that.

Anyway, now that Big Zeke's finally moving on, he needs a new challenger for the Intercontinental Championship.

Enter Sheamus.

I know that the IC title might be a step down for someone like the Celtic Warrior, but he's not going to be in the World title scene for at least another few months, and he could really help Jackson gain some experience and some credibility.

Like Big Show vs. Henry, I wouldn't expect four-star matches in a Sheamus vs. Jackson feud, but I do think fans would be at least somewhat interested in watching these two mammoths battle it out.

7. Kelly Kelly vs. Beth Phoenix

4 of 10

On last Monday's "Power to the People" edition of Raw, the fan vote gave Kelly Kelly a Divas Championship match against Brie Bella, one which K2 won to capture her first Divas title.

The Diva with the second-most results was Beth Phoenix.

See where I'm going with this?

Just like Christian did when the fans' cheers gave Randy Orton a World title opportunity--and thus ended Captain Charisma's title reign just five days after it began--, I'd have Beth turn on the fans.

She could complain about the fans screwing her over, say she's done with them, and then turn heel.

Instantly, we'd have a fresh feud brewing between Beth and Kelly Kelly that would likely be saved for SummerSlam but begin at Money in the Bank as well.

6. The Miz vs. Alex Riley

5 of 10

I absolutely love what the creative team has done with Alex Riley as a face so far, but now their next job is to get anything and everything they can out of his feud with The Miz.

Since neither of these guys should or likely will win Raw's Money in the Bank match, I want to see them in the second match of a best two-out-of-three series.

Riley already has one win, so I'd book The Miz to get the win here after a very competitive match that makes Riley look much stronger than he did at Capitol Punishment.

Remember how weak he looked?

Then, to finally settle the score between Riley and Miz, you have them compete in some sort of gimmick match at SummerSlam

5. United States Championship: Zack Ryder vs. Dolph Ziggler

6 of 10

I appreciate a good wrestling match just as much as the next guy, but I can only watch Kofi Kingston face Dolph Ziggler so many times before I get really bored with it.

I'm sure that the WWE creative team realizes that as well, but I'm also pretty positive that isn't going to stop them from continuing that feud through Money in the Bank and possibly all the way to SummerSlam.

Ugh. I sure hope not.

Personally, I'd love to see Kofi completely move on from the United States Championship scene and enter the main event picture. But, of course, I doubt that'll happen.

Therefore, the next best thing is for Kofi to move to another mid-card feud while Zack Ryder gets a much deserved mid-card title feud.

Given that Ryder recently turned face and has a nice fan base backing him, a rivalry with Ziggler could be one of the better mid-card feuds we'll see this year.

4. Alberto Del Rio vs. Rey Mysterio

7 of 10

The history is there, the intrigue is there, and even the storyline is there.

In a Triple Threat No. 1 Contender's Match on last week's Raw, Rey Mysterio hit his top rope splash on Alberto Del Rio and was about to get the victory before CM Punk threw Mysterio out of the ring and pinned Del Rio to become No. 1 Contender.

Therefore, the setup for another Del Rio vs. Mysterio feud is almost too easy.

Del Rio can complain about the "little chihuahua" ruining his title aspirations, while Mysterio can claim to be the "true" No. 1 contender for the WWE Championship because he should have gotten the pin.

Since they can't seem to agree on anything, just let them settle it in the ring in what could certainly be a four-star match.

3. Sin Cara vs. Evan Bourne

8 of 10

In all likelihood, both Sin Cara and Evan Bourne will be in their brands' respective Money in the Bank matches as the two high-flyers who hit the big spots and the jaw-dropping moves.

That's all fine and dandy.

But I don't believe for a second that either of these guys are going to grab that briefcase and win a guaranteed World title shot, so why not just give them their own singles match?

As we saw on Monday's Raw, Bourne and Sin Cara can really go in the ring and seem to have some solid chemistry.

Though they're on different brands, the brand split means diddly squat--see Big Show vs. Mark Henry--and shouldn't prevent the creative team from booking another match between the WWE's top aerial artists.

2. Smackdown Money in the Bank Match

9 of 10

Cody Rhodes vs. Daniel Bryan vs. Sin Cara vs. Sheamus vs. Ted DiBiase vs. Wade Barrett vs. Tyson Kidd vs. Kane

If you re-watch last year's Money in the Bank pay-per-view, you'll realize that it was one of the best PPVs of the year.

Both the Raw and Smackdown MITB matches tore the house down, and I'm expecting much of the same this year.

Returning from last year's Smackdown MITB bout, I have only Kane and Cody Rhodes, but I really like the other six competitors.

You have the best wrestler in the world (Daniel Bryan), a guy who can hit huge spots (Sin Cara), a powerful former WWE Champion (Sheamus), a guy who competed in Raw's MITB match last year (Ted DiBiase), an above average big man (Wade Barrett) and one of the company's most underrated in-ring workers (Tyson Kidd).

Their styles should mesh well in a bout that won't be as good as the 2010 Smackdown MITB match, but should still be very good nonetheless.

1. Raw Money in the Bank Match

10 of 10

Drew McIntyre vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Kofi Kingston vs. Jack Swagger vs. R-Truth vs. Evan Bourne vs. Rey Mysterio vs. John Morrison

Yes, please.

Remember that really good Smackdown MITB match from last year?

Well, three of those competitors (McIntyre, Ziggler and Kingston) are in this match, one competed in last year's Raw bout (Bourne), one is a former MITB winner (Swagger), one put on arguably the best ladder match of 2010 (Morrison), and the other is no slouch in ladder matches either (Mysterio).

While this bout doesn't have quite the star power of the Raw match from 2010—which featured The Miz, Chris Jericho, Randy Orton and Edge—or the 2011 one for that matter, there's no reason to think that these eight guys, given their experience, couldn't turn in one of the best MITB matches of all time.
